De Indiase auteursrechtenwet Act geldt in India, op werken die voor het eerst gepubliceerd zijn in India.

Postume werken (andere dan die hierboven), vallen in het publiek domein na 60 jaar vanaf de datum van publicatie. Enige andere vorm van werk komt in het publiek domein 60 jaar na de dood van de auteur. Teksten van wetgeving, juridische adviezen, en andere overheidsrapporten zijn vrij van copyright.

Note that this work might not be in the public domain in countries that do not apply the rule of the shorter term and have copyright terms longer than life of the author plus 60 years. In particular, Mexico is 100 years, Jamaica is 95 years, Colombia is 80 years, Guatemala and Samoa are 75 years, and Switzerland and the United States are 70 years.
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it meets three requirements:
it was first published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days),
it was first published before 1 March 1989 without copyright notice or before 1964 without copyright renewal or before the source country established copyright relations with the United States,
it was in the public domain in its home country (India) on the URAA date (1 January 1996).
