Bart D. Ehrman (1955) is een Amerikaanse nieuwtestamentische geleerde, momenteel de James A. Gray Onderscheiden Professor Religiestudies aan de Universiteit van North Carolina te Chapel Hill. Hoewel Ehrman een vooraanstaand nieuwtestamenticus is, heeft hij ook het brede publiek bereikt door onder andere vier New York Times-bestsellers te schrijven en in openbaar debat te gaan met andere geleerden. Zijn bekendste werk op populair niveau is Misquoting Jesus en Jesus, Interrupted. Ehrmans werk richt zich op tekstkritiek van het Nieuwe Testament en het vroege christendom.

Door zijn onderzoek kwam hij voor zichzelf tot de conclusie dat de Bijbelse overlevering onbetrouwbaar is en is hij agnost geworden: hoewel hij meent dat Jezus wel heeft bestaan, gelooft Ehrman niet in diens goddelijkheid. Hij zet zich daarmee af tegen aanhangers van de Jezusmythe-these zoals Richard Carrier.
