William Henry "Bill" Cosby, Jr., Ed.D (Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), 12 juli 1937) is een Amerikaanse acteur, komiek, televisieproducent, schrijver en filantroop.

Bill Cosby was de eerste Afro-Amerikaanse man die zijn eigen televisieserie had (I Spy midden jaren '60) en de raciale grenzen doorbrak als stand-up komiek in de jaren '60 en jaren '70. Na I Spy speelde hij in vele series waarvan sommige succesvol waren, zoals Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids en anderen niet. In het midden van de jaren 80, brak hij internationaal door met zijn sitcom The Cosby Show wat tevens het eerste televisieprogramma was dat gebaseerd was rond een zwart gezin met een succesvolle maatschappelijke carrière.

In recente jaren is zijn reputatie overschaduwd door controversiële uitlatingen over de zwarte gemeenschap en aanklachten wegens seksueel misbruik. Desalniettemin blijft Cosby een veelgeliefd televisie-icoon.
