Ernest Bert (Ernie) Ashworth (Huntsville (Alabama), 15 december 1928 - 2 maart 2009) was een Amerikaanse countryzanger, songwriter en gitarist. Zijn bekendste nummer is Talk Back Trembling Lips.
Als kind beluisterde hij al de Grand Ole Opry op de radio. In 1948 werd hij lid van de groep The Tunetwisters. Het jaar nadien trok hij naar Nashville, Tennessee. In Nashville verdiende hij de kost als componist en songwriter voor onder anderen Little Jimmy Dickens en Carl Smith. Voor Paul Anka schreef hij I Wish. Hij maakte zelf een paar plaatjes, maar had weinig succes en keerde terug naar zijn geboorteplaats, Huntsville.
In 1960 kreeg hij een contract bij Decca Records en belandde al met zijn eerste single, Each Moment (Spent With You), in de top-5 van de hitparade. Ook verschillende van zijn volgende platen werden een succes. Hij werkte mee aan de Grand Ole Opry. In 1989 kocht hij een radiozender, nadat hij zich had teruggetrokken op zijn boerderij in Lewisburg. In 1992 werd hij opgenomen in de Alabama Music Hall of Fame en in 2005 in de America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame.
