Working brigades were organized on military principles; each brigade was raised to the level of detachment with commander. Besides, the Works were renamed to the Weapons Factory of the National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia (this name was changed in 1945 to the Military Technical Workshops, and on July 28. 1945 to the 21st October Military Technical Works). Thanks to the preserved capacities of the previous HKP-533, first the animal-drawn and motor vehicles and artillery weapons were repaired and the destroyed buildings and plants were rebuilt. As it was impossible to do repair of the ammunition line fast, the decision was made, on March 6, 1945, to establish the state ammunition company (first called FOMU and later " l st Partizan" from Uzice), and a week later the VISTAD (now "Krusik") was put under the control of the National Defense Ministry. In this way, after one century, the ammunition and bombs production was taken out of the Works. The presidency of the Ministry Council of the Democratic Federal Republic of Yugoslavia made the decision on June 20, 1945 to put 11 weapons and military equipment factories under the control of the National Defense Ministry. The first on the list were the Works, which as to the conclusion were "systematically and absolutely destroyed and had only 140 employees that repaired only 100 machines (1.5% from the prewar capacities)". The recommendation was to rebuild the Works to the stage sufficient for the weapons repair. As the Gunsmith's and Machinegun shops were rebuilt during the same year, the "21st October Works" managed to repair 100 000 rifles, 3000 autos and 30 light machineguns till the end of December. On May 25, 1946 the Military Industry Directorate sent the information to the General Staff that Crvena Zastava (the name of January l, 1946) can produce 120 000 pieces of 7.9 mm barrels and repair 23 000 rifles and 15 000 automatic weapons Heeft vele naamswisselingen doorgaan. Goed, per 1946 dus (Crvena) Zastava. Dat verbaast met niet. Maar voor de oorlog? Als we beweren dat die fabriek er in 1853 al was, dan moet die fabriek bijna 100 jaar een andere naam hebben gehad... Fransvannes 28 nov 2006 15:53 (CET)
