Tot mijn stomme verbazing

Toen ik het artikel "Filosofie van de geest" voor het eerst las en tot vanacht toe, was ik in de veronderstelling, dat de "philosophy of mind" de zoveelste 20ste eeuwse filosofisch specialisme was. Tot mijn stomme verbazing kwam ik er echter achter, dat deze term al meer dan tweehonderd jaar gehanteerd wordt, zie:

• Google boeken zoeken tussen 1700-1800
• Google boeken zoeken tussen 1800-1900

Wat ik dan nog verbazingwekkender vind is, dat er in al die jaren geen goede vertaling van deze term is.

Iets wat mij ook verbaasd is, dat het boek Actief en passief bewustzijn: korte voorgeschiedenis van de cognitieve psychologie van Herman Kolk bijna deze strekking heeft als dit boek. Misschien is het daarom heel simpel: "Philosophy of Mind" in het Nederlands vertaald is cognitieve psychologie!? - Mdd 26 nov 2007 15:54 (CET)

Ik zou niet raar opkijken als de 17e tot 19e eeuwse philosophy of mind zich verder heeft ontwikkeld als de 20ste eeuwse cognitieve psychologie. - Mdd 26 nov 2007 16:59 (CET)

De Nederlandse termologie

De vertaling van het Engelse begrip Philosophy of Mind is me vooralsnog onduidelijk. Deze discussie is reeds gevoerd op de Overleg:Filosofie van de geest waarbij de volgende alternatieven zijn genoemd:

Met veel van de latere vermeldingen bij Google lijkt iets vreems aan de hand. In het uitreksel wordt de term genoemd, maar in de achterliggende pagina wordt dit niet zichtbaar. Het lijkt wel alsof Google deze term "geadopteerd" heeft als trefwoord!?
