Uropeltis is een geslacht van slangen uit de familie schildstaartslangen (Uropeltidae).[1]
De groep werd voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Georges Cuvier in 1829. Er zijn 24 soorten die voorkomen in delen van Azië, alle soorten komen endemisch voor in India.
