Wereldkampioenschap Twenty20 2009

Het Wereldkampioenschap Twenty20 2009 is het wereldkampioenschap cricket in de vorm Twenty20, dat in Engeland wordt gehouden van 5 tot en met 21 juni 2009. Er doen aan het toernooi bij de mannen 12 landen mee en 8 bij de vrouwen. Bij de mannen waren de 10 testcricket-landen direct geplaatst en twee landen konden zich via kwalificatiewedstrijden plaatsen. Nederland en Ierland slaagden hier in.[1] Zimbabwe was dit jaar uitgesloten voor deelname door de politieke ongeregeldheden rond Robert Mugabe in het land.[2] Schotland nam de vrijgekomen plaats over.
Er was voor het eerst ook een vrouwenkampioenschap Twenty20, dat tegelijkertijd werd gehouden. Aan dit toernooi deden 8 landen mee.
De Nederlandse en Engelse mannen openden het toernooi op Lord's, een wedstrijd die Nederland verrassend won.
