Melligomphus viridicostus is een echte libel (Anisoptera) uit de familie van de rombouten (Gomphidae).^[1]

De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd in 1926 als Lindenia viridicosta gepubliceerd door Kan Oguma.^[2]
