Hello China C. & all boats lovers ! I saw recently the 2010 movie about the Meermin voyage in 1766 (film made by Joe Kennedy & Nic Young), & from the blueprints I had a glimpse of, & the virtual reconstruction archeologist Bosoff made on his computer after he found the ship plans in an Amsterdam museum , I'd think the Meermin was a fluitschip rather than a hoeker. What do you think ? Hoping your answer (in english , please), heartily & t. y Arapaima (overleg) 29 sep 2011 08:51 (CEST)[reageer]

I find it difficult to distinguish between these types. There are so many variants. But for the article our opinion is not relevant: we must base the article on well-established sources, not on our own interpretation. Since all sources known to me state that the Meermin was a hoeker, I see no reason to change it. If you have a good source that says otherwise, I'd love to see it. The documentary that you refer to seems very interesting. Unfortunately I could only find a preview version online, not the full version.
I have repaired the links at the end of the article; may be you can do the same for the French article. I also updated the section on the current search for the wreck, based on an online article that I found. China Crisis (overleg) 8 okt 2011 13:25 (CEST)[reageer]
