English: A kopa was a bag made of a type of close webbing. The kernels of the titoki were pounded and put into the bag with some very hot stones. This, combined with the pressure induced by strenuous twisting by two people forced the oil from the bag. "Kopa or tawiri, device for squeezing titoki berries." Fig. 1, p58, illustration by Esmond Atkinson in Elsdon Best's 1942 book "Forest Lore of the Maori".
