Геральдический щит, разделённый на две части в соотношении 3:2. В верхней части щита на красном фоне (красный цвет символизирует пролитую россиянами кровь при охране и защите южных рубежей Российской Империи) помещено каноническое изображение духовного покровителя г. Георгиевска — Святого Георгия Победоносца. В нижней части щита на бирюзовом фоне (бирюзовый цвет — символ спокойствия и трудолюбия народа) изображена крепостная башня с открытыми воротами на холме (возвышении). На башне — год основания Георгиевской крепости. Золотая кайма щита символизирует щедрость полей, окружающих город
