Title derived from information on verso of photographic print. Date written on verso is "1947 Nov. 4" but photo would have been taken earlier, before Barnard died in 1938.

Dit werk komt uit de Carl Van Vechten Photographs collectie van de Library of Congress. Volgens de bibliotheek zijn er geen bekende auteursrechtelijke beperkingen op het gebruik van dit werk. As the restrictions on this collection expired in 1986, the Library of Congress believes this image is in the public domain. However, the Carl Van Vechten estate has asked that use of Van Vechten's photographs "preserve the integrity" of his work, i.e, that photographs not be colorized or cropped, and that proper credit is given to the photographer.

I am somewhat disturbed by the fact that this picture is dated 1947 and Barnard died in 1938. Or is is just me, being weird? Carptrash 19:46, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
My guess is that it is a typo, and the real date is 1937. Nov. 4, 1947 seems too exact for a publication date, but that is another possibility. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 10:25, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
