English: Representative Antarctic notothenioid fish. The Antarctic rockcod, Notothenia coriiceps (top), is red-blooded and possesses a robustly mineralized skeleton. The white-blooded icefish, Chaenocephalus aceratus (Blackfin icefish; bottom), is profoundly anemic and osteopenic. Photographs provided by H. William Detrich (Northeastern University, Boston).
Nederlands: Representatieve Antarctische notothenioidei vis. De Antarctische kabeljauw, Notothenia coriiceps (boven), is roodbloedig en bezit een robuust gemineraliseerd skelet.
