Melissa Joan Hart (Smithtown, Long Island, New York, 18 april 1976) is een Amerikaans actrice die bekend is geworden met hoofdrollen in de televisieseries Clarissa Explains It All en Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

Hart is geboren op Long Island en groeide op in het stadje Sayville. Ze komt uit een gezin met gescheiden ouders. Tevens heeft ze zeven broertjes en zusjes, 2 stiefzusjes en heeft ze ook een stiefvader.

De carrière van Hart begon al toen ze nog in de luiers zat. Ze maakte een spotje voor een badkuipspeeltje genaamd Splashy. Haar carrière nam echter een grote vlucht toen ze in 1989 in de Nickelodeonserie Clarissa Explains It All de hoofdrol kreeg. Nadat de succesvol geachte serie in 1994 stopte maakte ze de overstap naar nog een andere tienerserie. Met Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003) verwierf ze internationale faam. Hart heeft ook nog in enkele films gespeeld.
