I wish to know, on what grounds, a link to a very good fan site for Shlomo Artzi (Shlomo Artzi Fan Portal) was removed from his OWN page - TWICE. I found the link very useful, and so would anyone who knows hebrew and is interested in Shlomo Artzi. The users that so judiciously removed the links, state your reasons, and if you cannot give any, kindly return the link. – De voorgaande bijdrage werd geplaatst door 217.132.116.63 (overleg · bijdragen)

I think it's being removed, because it is a fanpage. Wikipedia is not ment to be like google. Ciell 28 sep 2007 04:11 (CEST)Reageren
It is not uncommon for Wiki pages to point to popular fan pages of the site. Wiki is not meant to be google, that much is true, but whereas google points to billions of pages with different relevance, Wiki SHOULD allow links to the most relevant pages chosen by humans which are best fit to do so, much more than google is. I believe a large fan page with correct and valuable info about the singer and his art and songs and albums and bio... counts as a valuable link. Any thoughts?
In short: the dutch wiki is not in favor of having a lot of links or links to fanpages. You mention "large fan page with correct and valuable info". This the first hurdle, how can we tell a fanpage has correct info? Any info should be in the article. Interested users can google for more information. EdBever 28 sep 2007 18:30 (CEST)Reageren
As you wish.
For starters, you can tell an internet page has correct info by surfing it! This is no hurdle at all. Furthermore, wiki does allow for other language links to important pages, when they are in the original language of the person in question. As I noticed on the polish page, the "keepers" of this article are very "watchdog" quick to take links down, but do not put in any real work into the article. I request that you discuss the www.shlomoartzi.org.il link, and either reinstate it, or cite exact reasons from the guide why you refuse to link to it.
