Unicode

The Dutch Wikipedia uses ISO-8859-1. š is a codepage 1252, not ISO-8859-1 character and will therefore only display on Windows systems. The only way to make it work on all systems is š. Using Unicode is not possible at all. Danielm 2 mei 2005 15:05 (CEST)

I am using Linux myself and see (and type) š - my locale is set to UTF-8. However I will use ISO-8859-1 from now on on Dutch Wikipedia (until it switches to Unicodes). Thanks for the information. --Romanm 4 mei 2005 21:49 (CEST)

On my SuSE 9.2 system I'm using Nimbus Sans L as standard font, and the CP-1252 extenstions are being displayed, allthough somehow they are not being displayed anti-aliased while the other text is. However, when I edit an article, Adobe Courier is being used, which is pure ISO-8859-1, and then those characters become spaces. Danielm 4 mei 2005 22:15 (CEST)
