MAUDE GILCHRIST. Maude Gilchrist, A. M., was the daughter of James Cleland Gilchristof Allegheny, Pennsylvania and Hannah (Cramer) Gilchrist of Hubbard,Ohio, born at Cahfornia, Pennsylvania. In 1880, she received the degree of B. Pd. from Iowa State Normal School(now Teachers College); 1887, B. S.; 1880-83 she was a student at WellesleyCollege, Massachusetts; 1897-1901, dean at lUinois Womens College,Jacksonville, Illinois; 1895, student in Summer Marine Biological Labora-tory, Woods Hole; 1894-95 attended lectures at Harvard University; 1896-97student at University of Gottingen; 1907, student at University of Mich-igan, with degree of A. M.; 1901-1913 dean of home economics, MichiganAgricultural College. Member of Congregational Church. Address: Wellesley, Massachusetts. She is a remarkable student, a teacher of great ability, was an efficient man-ager of women at this college, a most trying position. She resigned to be-come professor of botany at Wellesley College.
