English: Pole figure of a crystalline powder sample : stereographic projection of the orientational distribution function of a reflection (here: 002 reflection). The highest intensity (red) shows the function's maxima, where the 002 reflection can be found with highest probability in the sample, meaning that the crystallites are lying parallel to the (002) crystallographic plane.
