Marianne Cornet

Marianne Cornet ook bekend als SoulSister is een Surinaamse zangeres, actrice en songwriter. (Paramaribo, 16 April 1972) Zij komt uit een zeer muzikale familie, onder andere haar vader James Cornet en zuster Claire Cornet zijn artiesten. Marianne Cornet vertrok in 1972 met haar ouders en zus naar Nederland en keerde in 1984 voorgoed terug naar Suriname. Haar carriere begon toen zij in 1989 op 17 jarige leeftijd de SRS Talentenjacht won. In 1993 schreef zij enkele nummers die, toen op cassette uitgebracht, op de radio werden afgedraaid. Tevens werd zij dat jaar ontdekt door een Surinaamse soul artiest en opgenomen in de groep van oudere Surinaamse Soul-artiesten die Golden Oldies shows gaven in Thalia, georganiseerd door Yvonne Linger. In 1994 sloot zij zich aan bij de vocalisten groep Tour Entertainment die hoofdzakelijk Golden Oldies zong.
