Overleg:Kathedraal van Lincoln[bewerken | brontekst bewerken]

Dear Sirs, Contributors of the Dutch Wikipedia entry about your wonderful building are in doubt about an event in its history: the collapse of the spire of the central tower. According to http://lincolncathedral.com/building/architecture/ the spire blew down in 1548. However, http://lincolncathedral.com/building/history/ states that this happened in 1549. Is there any uncertainty about his? Would you know an exact date of the tempest and are there any reliable recent studies which can confirm one of these years (or even the year 1547, which seems to occur in contemporary sources)? By the way, the history section (the latter page) is not very clear while stating that "between 1307 and 1311 the central tower was raised to its present height". As far as I understand the spire which blew down in 1548/9 was erected by 1311, which would mean that the tower had not its present height. I hope you can help me and my editing collegues. Thanks in advance, yours truly, Frans van Nes. Fransvannes (overleg) 18 apr 2012 10:22 (CEST)
