"He was actually born on 17 December 1913 in Heanor, Derbyshire. His parents were Charles & Florence Salt ( her maiden name was Seal). It is true that he lived in Streetly, Staffordshire at the time of his death, but he did not own a garage. In fact, he worked for BSA in Birmingham. It was his move to BSA (in 1951?) that prompted the family buying a house in Streetley."

His son also said, "Whilst my father did have a brother George, he was most certainly not a motorcycle racer. His namesake was no relation whatsoever. Thank you very much. Found the correct birth date and place also on motorsportmemorial.org. There was a George T. Salt as competitor of the Isle of Man TT who stopped after 1957, obviously not a relative. I Will correct the article. Piero (overleg) 10 aug 2023 22:12 (CEST)
