English: The New Zealand Government Steamer Tutanekai was built by D. J. Dunlop and Co., of Glasgow, in 1896, for lighthouse tendering and cable work in New Zealand. In 1918 she was handed back by the Post and Telegraph Department to the Marine Department, eg. for paying periodical visits to New Zealands' outlying islands.
Nederlands: De Nieuw-Zeelandse regeringsstoomboot 'Tutanekai' werd gebouwd door DJ Dunlop en Co in Glasgow in 1896, voor het onderhoud en de bevoorrading van vuurtorens en het leggen van zeekabels in Nieuw-Zeeland. Vanaf 1918 werd ze vnl. ingezet voor het afleggen van de periodieke bezoeken aan afgelegen eilanden van Nieuw Zeelands, bijv. voor het onderhoud van schipbreukelingendepots.
