The City of New York

New York City is the biggest city of the United States of America. It is also one of the most important cities of the world. New York City is very influential in economy, media, education, finance, music, theater, art, fashion and publicity. Everyone thinks that New York City is the capital of the state New York, but that’s not true. The capital of New York is Albany. The city is the most populous city in America with 9.5 million inhabitants scattered over an area of 789.43 km². The city consists of 5 boroughs (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens en Staten Island). A lot of monuments and districts of the city are well-known all over the world and symbolize The US in general, for example The Statue of Liberty, Wall Street and The Empire state Building. New York City has 2 nicknames, the first one is ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ because of the activity and the agility. The second one is ‘ The Big Apple’ but the origins of that nickname isn’t sure.
