Usube Bako Usube Bako (Bakoev) was a Yazidi Kurd, born in 1909 in a poor peasant family. In 1918, Usube Bako’s family moved from the village to Yerevan. Bako studied at a worker’s faculty in Leningrad, and later graduated from the law faculty of Yerevan State University.

For many years, Usube Bako held a responsible position in the Supreme Court of the Armenian SSR.

From the first days of the Great Patriotic War until the end of 1944, he served in the Soviet Army and was severely wounded. For his military merits, he was awarded the orders of the Red Star, the Patriotic War I degree, and many medals. Usube Bako is one of the most famous Kurdish poets, and the author of several books. His poems and books have been translated into Russian and Armenian. They are close to folk songs in their simplicity and imagery.
