About Lady Bee…[bewerken | brontekst bewerken]

Bianca Latupapua (born October 6, 1983) is a Dutch electronic music artist, MC, DJ and producer, releasing chart-topping singles on some of the world’s biggest independent labels. Her energetic blend of Moonbahton, Hip-Hop, Trap and Bass has turned her into one of the most original and authentic producers in her field.

Early life and career beginings:

Born and raised in Amsterdam, Lady Bee was born to Julius Latupapua from Maluku and Margie Kunz of Indonesian and Dutch heritage. Growing up in a musical family, her father played bass in a local band while her little brother Benjamin Latupapua was a DJ and producer named Marc Benjamin. Listening to UK garage, 2-step and drum, n bass, and playing guitar and rapping at family events from an early age, at 17 Lady Bee was noticed by Eric E and asked to MC on his sets.

Early work:

Lady Bee’s initial career saw major labels with two of EDM’s biggest Dutch exports, Sidney Samson and three-time DJ Mag Top 100 winner Hardwell. In 2006 her Sidney Samson collaboration ‘Girls’ was released by Spinnin’ Records, followed by two tracks with Hardwell, ‘Go Down’ and ‘Play That Funk’, both on Digidance, and her debut solo release, the aptly titled ‘Plan Bee’ on Crème Fresh Music. Lady Bee continued the collaborations through 2007, ‘I Love It’ and ‘You Don’t Love Me’ coming on Samson’s own Samsobeats imprint and returning to Digidance with Hardwell for ‘Goes Like This’, before partnering in 2009 with Samson for their final tracks together, ‘Let’s Go’ (Samsobeats) and ‘Shut Up And Let It Go’ on revered UK label CR2 Records.

2010 – 2013:

In 2010 Lady Bee made her first appearance on Steve Aoki’s world-renowned Dim Mak Records, teaming up with Seductive for ‘Heat It Up’. In 2011 she collaborated with Dutch star Laidback Luke, presented as a featuring artist on his Mixmash Records hit ‘Mortal Comeback’, a track heavily influenced by his love of Kung Fu. 2012 saw Lady Bee partner with Ravage on the Guillotine Recordings release ‘Get World’, then with Dani L Mebis on the Cloud 9 release ‘Dancing Machine’. Her first outing on Diplo’s Mad Decent Records, ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’ was swiftly followed by ‘Murda Dem’, both tracks also released on Jeffrees. She returned to Aoki’s Dim Mak Records with ‘This Is What We Came For’ (also released via New Noise) and Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records for her first official remix, Uberjak’d ‘All I Need’.

2014:

2014 saw Lady Bee up the ante in terms of sheer volume of music releases, with a startling nine tracks across a host of top flight imprints. BDMNR alone hosted four tracks, ‘Too Girlie’, ‘Gunshot’, ‘Don’t Pull A Fast One’ and the chart-topping ‘Drop It Down Like’ (WHAT POSITION ON WHICH CHART WAS IT?). She returned to Diplo’s Mad Decent, teaming up with Nina Sky for ‘Do It All Again’, took to remixing duties for Deorro and Zoofunction’s ‘Hype’ on Dim Mak Records and Francesco Yates’ ‘Call’ on iconic US label Big Beat Records, and collaborated twice with Vato Gonzalez on ‘We Be Like’ and ‘The World Is Mine’, both on Dirty House.

2015:

Lady Bee kicked 2015 off with an immediate chart topper, the Rochelle feature ‘Return Of The Mack’ on Spinnin’ Records, which hit (WHAT POSITION ON WHICH CHART WAS IT?). She followed that with ‘Bring The Trumpets’ on Down Pitch, ‘That Paper’ (ft. Feliciana) and ‘New Vibes’ (ft. D-Rashid) on Dutch label and playlist curator FRNT Music, and ‘Sum Like That’ (ft. Sigourney) on Rebel Yard. Two further releases came via Mad Decent, Lady Bee ft. Feliciana ‘Run Off’ and Lady Bee x CMC$ ‘Flowerz’, and the Dim Mak release ‘Bucka’, featuring Mr Vegas and Noise-Cans.

2016:

2016 was Lady Bee’s biggest year to date, with seven original releases and four remixes, signaling her growing reputation among other artists looking for a unique and distinctive sound to add to their official remix packages. For the first time Lady Bee featured on the release schedule of one of the major labels, her Alvaro collaboration ‘In Mijn Systeem’ gracing the roster of Sony Music. Meanwhile her partnerships with the great and the good of electronic music continued; Mixmash alone released three singles, Lady Bee ft. Grace Tither – ‘Homeless Heart’, Lady Bee x Rocky Wellstack ‘Box Dem’, and Lady Bee x Wellstack ‘Droppin All These Dollaz’. Mixmash were not the only label getting in on the action, Moodswing releasing the TWRK collaboration ‘Wheels In Motion’ and Powerhouse Music the Girls Love DJs collaboration ‘Higher’. Her growing profile attracted more artists interested in her remix work: The Motto ‘Gunfighter’ (Lady Bee Remix) on Pias/Trap City, Nina Sky ‘Champion Lover’ (Lady Bee Remix) on Tommy Boy, Girls Love DJs ‘In My Head (Lady Bee Remix) on Gum Pop Records and NERVO ft. Amba Shepherd ‘Did We Forget’ on Ultra.
