Ebla / Sodom and Gomorra

In de huidige inleiding van het lemma staat dat de Eblaïtische tabletten een connectie bevatten met Sodom en Gomorra. Wat ik begrijp is dat Ebla in de jaren rond 1970 werd ontdekt en dat hun taal/de tabletten werden ontcijferd door Giovanni Pettinato. Hij meldde ook een koppeling tussen 2 in de tabletten genoemde (plaats)namen met Sodom en Gomorra. De Engelse wiki meldt echter op Ebla en Sodom and Gomorra:

• Giovanni Pettinato has also claimed to find references to Sodom and Gomorrah. However, much of the initial media excitement about supposed Eblaite connections with the Bible, based on preliminary guesses and speculations by Pettinato and others, is now widely deplored as "exceptional and unsubstantiated claims" and "great amounts of disinformation that leaked to the public"[1]

• Today, the scientific consensus is reported as being that "Ebla has no bearing on ... Sodom and Gomorra"[2]

Doet niets af aan het werk van die man, maar het lijkt erop te duiden dat zijn bewering daarover geen vaste basis in de huidige wetenschap heeft(?). --Sonty567 11 sep 2008 06:10 (CEST)
