George Weigel[brontekst bewerken]

Hi, apologies for writing in English on a non-english wiki, but I'm trying to unscramble George Weigel from de:Georg Weigel as one is a living American and the other is a long dead German. Linking the two causes anomalies on meta:Death anomalies table I've tried disantangling them across 6 languages, is there any way to mark an article as definitely not to be interwiki linked to a particular article with a similar name? Revert bot edit[brontekst bewerken]

Hi Thijs, I want to let you know I reverted this bot edit:

[1]

because the bot points the article en:Eye to am:ዐይን which is a disambiguation page, instead of am:አይን (ሥነ አካል) which is the correct page about the Eye.

As a bot-runner myself, I know this is caused because of a bug that makes it very difficult to let the bot recognize which pages are bonafide disambig pages in Amharic. I have tried messing with the mediawiki message that supposedly flags disambig pages for a bot in all manner of ways, but still can't figure it out.

Usually this is not such a big problem. But in the case of "Eye" it is more of one, because if you check here: m:List_of_Wikipedias_by_sample_of_articles/Neglected#am_አማርኛ you can see how it is affecting Amharic wikipedia's "quality score" by putting the disambig at the top of the list of pages that need to be expanded or created.

This list is automatically updated soon after the start of each month, and I also like to list on the Amharic Recent Changes box, which article is most in need of expansion.

I had corrected this manually before, a few months ago when "Eye" was wrongly at the top of that list, but I did not have time to go thru every single language and fix the mistake, so the bot picked it up as a "duplicate interwiki." And now it's back. Which means I have to continue to list August's "article most in need of expansion" on the Recent changes, and wait until October to see what the "article most in need of expansion" REALLY is.

Since I don't have my bot set up to run on all wikis, I was wondering if you could get yours to weed this one out. Cheers, Codex Sinaiticus 3 sep 2010 14:54 (CEST)Reageren
