Reading is more than just seeing all the characters. All the characters in the right order make up a word. Add a space and more characters, repeat the process and you might have a sentence. When they are all combined in your mind you may understand the message that is in that sentence. It is not certain because that sentence may be in a language that is foreign to you.

When you know the language, some people have to combine all the characters to make up a word. Most people learn to recognise a word at a glance. To make things possible, it is important to have a stable view. The way characters look, the font, make a big difference. When you find that a specific font makes it easier to read use it. You need to spend less energy seeing what is there and have more energy to understand what it is all about.
