Hello wikipedians!

I'm a portuguese and I've never seen before the word "brazilian" (which means - refering or related to Brazil) as a name for a language! In Brazil people speak (brazilian) portuguese and they say they speak portuguese - this title reveals complete sloppiness of the person who wrote it, nobody would think about calling US english as simply "American" or something like that. In my opinion making such a specific article is a waste of space since it deals with differences in portuguese language rules between different countries - it should be in a section of compared portuguese or something like that.

Boa noite! In all other Wikipedias the title of the equivalents of this page is a more litteral translation of Português brasileiro, which in Dutch would be Braziliaans Portugees. I don't know why this name was not chosen here. A page about the pecularities of Brazilian Portuguese does not seem useless to me. At least many Wikipedias have such a page, including the Portuguese one. I will rename this one to Braziliaans Portugees, which is at least a title which includes the most important point: that it is Portuguese! Fransvannes 27 jul 2006 00:14 (CEST)[reageer]

Nowadays most phonologists agree that there are more differences in pronunciation and grammar between British English and American English than between Portuguese from Portugal and from Brasil. There also also substantial differences between the Spanish from Spain and that from South American countries - nobody will name this Spanish - South American Spanish - this is bullsh*t, I'm sorry!...
