Onderwerp toevoegenmy dad Thomas Shanks played in the Bowhill Colliery Silver Band on the double bass in the 1950's and the band's conductor was Drake Rimmer. They won many competitions including the Miners Gala in Edinburgh in 1953.Tthere is a video of this day out on line entitled Scottish miners gala day!
