Geboorte- en overlijdensdata

Ik twijfelde aan de genoemde geboorte- en overlijdensdata:

• nl: 6 maart 1508 - 22 februari 1556. In de tekst zelf wordt gesproken over een overlijden in januari.

De Engelse en Duitse wikipedia geven:

• en: March 17, 1508 – March 4, 1556 (OS March 7, 1508-OS February 22, 1556) (Old Style moeten wij niet gebruiken).
• de: *6. März 1508 ; † 26. Januar 1556

Dus ik ben maar eens gaan zoeken en op de Engelstalige wiki vond ik deze bron: Gulbadan Begum, The History of Humayun (Humayun-nama). Trans. & ed. Annette Beveridge, Royal Asiatic Soc. (London) 1902 (ISBN 81-215-1006-6).

The blessed birth of the Emperor Humayun, the first-born son of his Majesty Firdaus-makam, occurred in the night of Tuesday, Zu'lqa da 4th, 913H. (March 6th, 1508), in the citadel of Kabul, and when the sun was in the sign Pisces.

The Emperor on that Friday evening of January 24th, 1556, had started down the upper flight and was on its second step, when the miCazzin raised the cry for prayer from the neighbouring mosque. Sidl 'Ali says, as though it were some individual habit of Humayun, that the latter had the custom of kneeling whenever he heard the cry; other writers say that he tried to seat himself. His foot became entangled, some say in his mantle (postin), his staff slid along the smooth step, and he fell to the bottom of the flight with severe injuries to head and arm. Three days later Humayun died, on January 27th, and in the forty-eighth year of his age.

Ik vind de bron betrouwbaar en zo te zien wordt gewoon de Gregoriaanse kalender gebruikt en daarom heb ik de overlijdensdatum gewijzigd. En omdat zijn overlijden een mooi anekdotisch verhaal is, heb ik dat uitgebreid in de tekst (er is ook sprake van een ander gebouw). Tekstman 11 apr 2009 11:08 (CEST)
