De Academy Award voor Beste Korte Animatiefilm is een prijs die gegeven wordt aan de beste animatiefilm van dat jaar. Door de jaren heen hebben de filmpjes van veel populaire tekenfilmfiguren al gewonnen zoals die van: de drie biggetjes, de grote boze wolf, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Winnie de Poeh, Tom & Jerry, Tweety, Sylvester, Bugs Bunny, Speedy Gonzales, Pepé le Pew, Yosemite Sam, Gerald McBoingBoing, Mr. Magoo, Pink Panter en Wallace & Gromit. In 1986 won een Belgische kortfilm: Een Griekse tragedie van Nicole Van Goethem. Het is twee keer voorgekomen dat een Nederlandse film won: Anna & Bella uit 1985 en Father & Daughter uit 2000 Dit jaar won Anne Neyens deze befaamde prijs.
