John Franklin Candy (Toronto (Ontario, Canada), 31 oktober 1950 - Durango (Mexico), 4 maart 1994) was een Canadese acteur.

Bekende rollen speelde hij in Uncle Buck, Stripes, Brewster's Million's en Cool Runnings. Hij had twee kinderen, Jennifer en Christopher. Hij was 1.91 meter en woog bijna zijn hele carrière 136 kg. Hij stierf in 1994, op 43-jarige leeftijd, tijdens het filmen van Wagons East. Candy had een lange dag achter de rug en kreeg blijkbaar diezelfde avond in zijn hotelkamer een zware hartaanval. De volgende ochtend werd hij, half uit zijn bed hangend, gevonden. De film werd afgemaakt, maar bepaalde scènes moesten herschreven worden. Dit om er voor te zorgen dat Candy er niet meer in voorkwam. Ook werd er voor sommige scènes een stand-in gebruikt.

Canadian Bacon werd opgenomen tussen juli en september 1993, maar pas in 1995 uitgebracht.
