Eric Onno Postma (Nijmegen, 28 december 1961) is een Nederlands Hoogleraar werkzaam aan onder meer de Universiteit van Tilburg en de JADS.

Levensloop

Achtergrond

Eric Postma komt uit een gezin met 3 kinderen. Hij groeide op in de provincie Gelderland en is de jongste van drie broers. Zijn oudere broers Hans Postma is een zakenman en zijn oudste broer Paul Postma is een grafisch ontwerper. Eric's ouders Jacob Postma en Joke Postma - van den Berg zijn inmiddels gepensioneerd werknemers van Philips in Eindhoven.

Gezinsleven

Eric heeft in 1989 zijn Master of Science behaald in Nijmegen. Tijdens zijn studie ontmoette Eric Jacqueline Oldenkamp (13 december 1964 - 4 maart 2009), met wie hij twee jaar later trouwde. Uit dit huwelijk kreeg hij twee kinderen Wouter Daan Postma (10 juli 1991) en Coen Maarten Postma (15 februari 1995). Helaas overleed zijn vrouw Jacqueline in 2009 op 44-jarige leeftijd. Na enige tijd leerde Eric zijn tweede vrouw Marie Postma-Nilsenova (26 juni 1974) kennen, die eveneens werkt aan de Universiteit van Tilburg. In 2011 is Eric Postma met haar in het huwelijksbootje gestapt.

In het nieuws

Aangezien Kunstmatige Intelligentie een steeds belangrijker onderwerp wordt binnen onze samenleving, is Postma vaak te zien op TV bij bijvoorbeeld het NOS Journaal. Daarnaast geeft Postma geregeld lezingen voor bijvoorbeeld TedTalk of de zogenoemde Kinderuniversiteit. Ook was Postma in 2017 te zien toen koning Koning Willem-Alexander zijn 50ste verjaardag vierde in Tilburg. Postma hield hier een minicollege voor de dochters van de Koninklijke Familie.
