Moore was born in Oakland, California, the son of Marilyn Wilson, a business consultant, and Sherrod Moore.[1] Moore has 3 half siblings, Kosheno Moore, Sheburra Moore and Shenon Moore. Moore's father is African American and his mother, who was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, is of Irish and French-Canadian descent.[2][3][4] His mother, who has a degree in mathematics, worked as a teacher in Bahrain and Denmark for several years, and Moore lived with her abroad.[4] Returning to California in the 1970s, they moved to Chico, California, where his mother worked at a clinic, before later moving to Palo Alto, where he graduated from Gunn High School.[4] He matriculated to Santa Clara University, where he majored in Communications.
