Hello Raid5, welcome to the Dutch Wikipedia! Vlag van Nederland Welkomstbericht in het Nederlands
Thank you for participating in this community project. We would like to give you the opportunity to be free and productive. Here are a few directions that might help you:
  • A collection of useful links in English can be found on Help:English.
  • Please use our Sandbox (zandbak) for experimenting.
  • Feel free to add your expertise to Wikipedians by interest, and to use our Babel templates (taalsjablonen) on your user page.
  • Wikipedia has been an ongoing project for several years now. There have been discussions on many issues in the past. Please check the discussion pages (overlegpagina's) if you are in doubt about the contents of a given page.
  • If you want to make a careful start editing in Dutch, try to expand some of our stubs (beginnetjes).
  • Take care when editing someone else's work. Registered users can change the name of an article by using "Titel wijzigen". This method of renaming keeps the history (geschiedenis) of a page intact.

  • More information (in Dutch) can be found on our conventions page and the wikiquette page.

In reply to your feedback[brontekst bewerken]

Moi Raid5,

I'm sorry for replying in English, which you claim on your user page not to understand. Then again you also say you don't speak Finnish, which you obviously do, so I'm going to assume you might not be familiar with the way the Babel templates work and hope you'll be able to understand this. In your feedback you say "Mukavaa mutta ilmapiiri on todella lannistava", which Google Translate tells me means something like "nice but the atmosphere is really discouraging". You said something similar in feedback you submitted approximately two months ago (I apologize for not having been able to reply to that). I can see where this is coming from. Some users are hostile because of negative experience throughout the years, causing them to have become bittered, some users seem to take pleasure in bringing other users down. There are, however, also a lot of users who are able to communicate in a friendly way, or at least have good intentions. In the end most users have a common goal: to build an encyclopedia. I believe by staying chivalrous yourself and not letting the rude users get to you you should be able to contribute while also having a good experience. I strongly believe the experience of a negative atmosphere is at least in part dependent on your own mindset.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to see if you've contributed to the Dutch Wikipedia in the past and so don't know if you're referring to specific negative experiences you've had on this project. I therefore apologize if my reply seems too generic and hope it was of some help.

Ystävällisin terveisin,

Thank you for answering. The Finnish language is my native language, I can read those other languages which are listed in Babel templates, but writing is much difficult. The German language is of course more difficult, all the dative and accusative things… I do not want to give too good image of my competence – I do understand meaning of Babel templates.
I answered indeed that way. Do not take me too seriously, because it was a bad day. I have made mistakes when I have edited articles and then someone has given me feedback inappropriate way and I remembered that. However, I have learned a little bit editing and I have also read a lot of instructions. I have nothing negative to say about the Dutch Wikipedia. I can’t edit your language but I have searched information about the municipalities and provinces of Netherlands. It is been a long time when I travelled to the Netherlands, it was part of the judo competition and camp tour, I remember that beautiful country. I do not know how to program, but learning to lightweight markup language is really interesting. These were my thoughts, I hope your understand my writing. You are very encouraging, thank you.
