Blondie Chaplin

Terence William 'Blondie' Chaplin (7 juli 1951, Durban, Zuid-Afrika) is een Zuid-Afrikaanse muzikant.

Carrière

Hij is vooral bekend van zijn tijd bij The Beach Boys, waar hij begin 1970 onderdeel uitmaakte als zanger en gitarist. Hij is leadzanger van minstens drie Beach Boys nummers ('Sail On, Sailor', 'Leaving This Town' en 'Funky Pretty', allen van het album Holland uit 1973).

Eind 1980 tourde Blondie samen met The Band, wederom als zanger en gitarist. Vanaf de Bridges to Babylon Tour maakt hij onderdeel uit van de rockband de Rolling Stones. Ron Wood noemt de Zuid-Afrikaan zelfs het geheime wapen van de Stones.

De fantastische stem van Chaplin komt echter beter tot uiting op zijn eigen albums, waar 'Between Us' uit 2006 de laatste van is. "Blondie Chaplin is the best-kept secret in America ... and once you find the secret, you want everybody to hear it." zei Nicholas Tremulis eens.
