Joseph Walton Losey (La Crosse, 14 januari 1909 - Londen, 22 juni 1984) was een Amerikaans filmregisseur.

Na zijn medicijnenstudie en Engelse literatuur, ging hij in Duitsland studeren, waar hij Bertolt Brecht ontmoette en samen mee studeerde. Na zijn terugkeer uit Europa ging hij theater regisseren in New York.

Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog ging hij naar Hollywood om films te regisseren. Vanwege zijn communistische sympathieën kwam hij in de VS op de „zwarte lijst” te staan en voelde zich genoodzaakt om in 1952 naar Engeland te verhuizen. In 1971 kreeg hij op het filmfestival van Cannes een Gouden Palm voor zijn film The Go-Between.
