William John (Liam) Neeson (Ballymena, 7 juni 1952) is een Noord-Iers acteur van katholieke afkomst. Hij werd in 1994 genomineerd voor onder meer een Academy Award voor zijn hoofdrol in Schindler's List. Hij werd genomineerd voor Golden Globes voor Schindler's List, Michael Collins en Kinsey. Voor Michael Collins werd Neeson op het Filmfestival van Venetië 1996 daadwerkelijk uitgeroepen tot beste acteur. In 2009 werd bekend dat hij gecast is voor de rol als Hannibal Smith in de A-Team film.

Neeson was sinds zijn filmdebuut in Pilgrim's Progress uit 1979 meer dan vijftig keer op het witte doek te zien. Hij werd eens "'s werelds aantrekkelijkste man" genoemd [bron?]. Tot zijn grootschaliger rollen behoren onder meer die in Schindler's List, Rob Roy, Michael Collins en zijn rol in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace als de Jedi-Meester Qui-Gon Jinn. Neeson portretteert dan de Meester van Obi-Wan Kenobi. Zelf is Qui-Gon de leerling geweest van Graaf Dooku.
Neeson werd een Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1999. Hij is in Ierland ambassadeur voor Unicef.
Neeson trouwde in 1994 met Natasha Richardson en kreeg met haar zonen Michael (1995) en Daniel (1996). Richardson overleed op 18 maart 2009 na een ski-ongeval in Canada waarbij ze ernstig hoofdletsel opliep[1].
