De snuitmotten of lichtmotten (Pyralidae) zijn een familie van nachtvlinders. Meer dan 850 soorten nachtvlinders in Europa behoren tot deze familie. Wereldwijd telt de familie ruim 6000 soorten, die meest in de tropen leven.
Een aantal soorten heeft zich als "voorraadmot" ontwikkeld, en kan zich manifesteren als plaaginsect. Aan de andere kant is Cactoblastis cactorum juist weer ingezet als biologische bestrijder van cactussoorten.
In veel classificaties worden de Crambidae of grasmotten als een onderafdeling van de Pyralidae gezien. De gecombineerde familie is dan een van de grootste binnen de vlinders. De laatste herziening door Munroe & Solis, in Kristensen (1999) behoudt de Crambidae als een zelfstandige familie.
