That's what we're doing."

--2405:4800:1484:9FD2:29C0:7AF1:4CF8:F6C 8 aug 2017 10:56 (CEST)
“Primalspam”[brontekst bewerken]
NOTE: IF THE BLACKLISTING WAS LOCALISED TO DUTCH WIKIPEDIA ONLY AND NOT DONE GLOBALLY THEN PLEASE SKIP THE ENGLISH LANGUGE PART AND READ THE DUTCH LANGUAGE PART.
@Beetstra: Primal Trek is not spam, it’s a great educational resource and please let me defend it.
It satisfies WP:SOURCE, and I had only added it to “External links” twice and one of those times I moved it from external links into the body of the article after using it to add content. Primal Trek is one of the largest names in the online Chinese numismatic community.
Let me first explain why I used it so much:
Primal Trek is an English language source that offers information translated from various Asian languages often not available anywhere else on the web. Whenever I did use Primal Trek I would often spend hours looking for alternative sources to use simply because I did not want a large collection of articles to be so reliable on a single main source like many Chinese numismatic articles already were on “Cast Chinese Coinage” by {{u|DavidHartill}}, a large difference is that Hartill doesn't name his sources (a concern brought up by another editor at Talk:Ancient Chinese coinage a couple of years ago) while Primal Trek does. On my User pages I explained in detail why I had used Primal Trek and that I personally had no affiliation with the website and that I simply use it to add educational content plus I always omitted going into unnecessary details and I had only “used it excessively” in the article en:Cash (Chinese coin) because it listed different aspects of the history of those coins in separate places. I added those links before I sockpuppeted (on my user pages I clearly stated that I was those IPs, I only denied this after insulting another editor but I still took responsibility for the prior IPs), in one instance I only added it because it named the Chinese term for coin tree which no other sources did and I looked around to make sure that Primal Trek wasn't overrepresented but this was simply the most detailed link I could provide.
I used it on various talk pages because I seriously did want other editors to respond if such information about modern coin hoards would be relevant or not to the subject, if this somehow had breached an external linking policy then I apologise for that but I really just did want to know if I should add them or not (I personally chose to not add them until someone else greenlighted it).
Being on Wikipedia doesn't benefit Primal Trek, the website doesn't use any advertisements and most of its reputation comes from the fact that it has more detailed information on Chinese ad Korean coins than any other place on the internet, something I also let apply to Wikipedia so not only would Primal Trek now have to compete with Wikipedia the HTML nofollow wouldn't allow more traffic to the website anyhow.
It lists more sources than most other Chinese numismatic references, if this weren't the case than I wouldn't have used it as I deeply believe in building an encyclopedia.
Do not hurt the verifiability of Wikipedia and blacklist an educational source simply because I had sockpuppeted to insult others, these two are unrelated and removing Primal Trek removes the verifiability of a lot of articles. I deserve to be blocked from Wikipedia, Primal Trek does not so all I am asking is to please whitelist it and restore ALL the links to undo the damage, many articles rely heavily on this source and other articles would become depend on single sources again, don’t take my word for it look at Primal Trel yourself if you really don’t believe me, even the blogs include a lot of inline sources.
Please do not hurt Wikipedia because I did, I deeply care about building this encyclopedia and some articles like en:Zhou dynasty coinage, and en:Ban Liang really need Primal Trek to be verifiable, I did also use other sources but again Primal Trek as the most detailed. What matters at the end of the day is that the readers have access to verifiable information, do not blacklist the website because of me, please.
Unrelated to Primal Trek I did attempt to include 2 blacklisted links at Yuan dynasty coinage, I should've attempted to ask for their whitelisting first but the sources seemed reliable and the only reason I had assumed they were blacklisted was because someone had attempted to spam them. At the time I simply didn't know where I could request to have them removed, but when I found out I was unfortunately no longer busy with building a encyclopedia but insulting another user, I really never wished to hurt Wikipedia’s mainspace.
From WP:EXT
“There are several things that should be considered when adding an external link. Is the site content accessible to the reader? Is the site content proper in the context of the article (useful, tasteful, informative, factual, etc.)? Is the link functioning and likely to remain functional? Each link should be considered on its merits, using the following guidelines. As the number of external links in an article grows longer, assessment should become stricter. When in doubt about the appropriateness of adding new links, make a suggestion on the article's talkpage and discuss with other editors.”
With Primal Trek I dd exactly that, I asked in the talk pages if articles on let's say coin hoards and such were appropriate, anything directly relevant to the subject was properly linked as a reference (with 1 exception at Ancient Chinese Coinage, where I had implemented it as further reading as it goes into more details regarding the subject).
Sent from my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL with Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile 📱.
And for the record excessive linking to some sites is not an unusual feature if such a site is a very trustworthy name in its field, compare this to the AOL properties of TechCrunch and Engadget on Apple related articles where they might sometimes appeaR 20 times in the same article, I never linked it unless it was strictly relevant to the article in question.
Primal Trek Vs. Hartill[brontekst bewerken]
Legends claim that my beard is so awesome that it created the universe 🌌 just so the universe could create my beard, however many myths prophesised the creation of a beard more awesome than mine, one worn by Mr. {{u|DavidHartill}} (seriously, look at how great his beard looks), all joking aside if you would look at the Chinese coinage articles one thing you would notice is that all of them name the book “Cast Chinese Coins” as the most quoted source, to this end it is true and I have basically “milked ” that entire book 🕮 over the span of the same articles where Primal Trek was/is used, the difference being that if you would combine Primal Trek and all of its blog posts it would amount to probably 300 pages, while Hartill’s book to around 400, I have used (and rephrased) more content from that book than from Primal Trek but the only reason it isn't seen as “spamming” is because the book contains no link other than its ISBN (which also includes Amazon), in fact I had bought that book specifically to improve those articles, and Hartill was already quoted and used half a dozen times before I ever expanded or edited a single article on those subjects, the only difference is that one is a book and the other is a website, and the only reason either of them would still be “usable” for novices is simply because both the book, and Primal Trek contain images that Wikimedia Commons CURRENTLY doesn't host, so it’s a matter of what the source was, not the content of the sources. I hope that you can see that these 2 sources were applied in ways more similar than dissimilar and that they could both remain in use unchanged.

Indien het alleen lokaal geblacklist is[brontekst bewerken]
Kleine verontschuldig[brontekst bewerken]
“Primalspam” in nl wiki[brontekst bewerken]
Koreaanse mun[brontekst bewerken]
Sent from my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL with Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile 📱.
Sent from my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL with Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile 📱.

Hoogachtend, De Arbitragecommissie, 9 aug 2017 00:52 (CEST)
Verzoek[brontekst bewerken]

Tweede kans[brontekst bewerken]
Xxmarijnw is bijzonder integer.
WIKIKLAAS overleg 9 nov 2017 02:47 (CET)
<verplaatst vanaf Overleg Wikiklaas>
Deblokkadeverzoeken[brontekst bewerken]
--Donald Trung (Overleg 💬|"Mijn" artikelen 📚) 9 nov 2017 12:08 (CET)
<einde verplaatst bericht>

The Banner Overleg 11 nov 2017 10:14 (CET)
I will not request local unblocks via Meta or other wiki's [...] I really just want to be able to add content".
WIKIKLAAS overleg 12 nov 2017 20:15 (CET)

Beoordelingsnominatie van o.a.
Recent changes
- If you use the Chrome web browser on Android you can see a download icon on the mobile website. You can download a formatted PDF. It will work in other mobile browsers in the future. [9]
- The abuse filter now has a function called
get_matches
. You can use it to store matches from regular expressions – one of each capturing group. You can read more in Phabricator.
Problems
- Last week's MediaWiki version didn't come to all Wikipedias because of a database crash. It will be on all wikis on 20 November. [10][11][12]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 21 November at 19:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 22 November at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Language converter syntax will no longer work inside external links. Wikitext like
http://-{zh-cn:foo.com; zh-hk:bar.com; zh-tw:baz.com}-
must be replaced. You will have to write-{zh-cn: http://foo.com ; zh-hk: http://bar.com ; zh-tw:http://baz.com }-
instead. This only affects languages with Language Converter enabled. Examples of such languages are Chinese and Serbian. This will happen next week. [13][14]

Recent changes
- URLs that link to sections on Wikimedia wikis with non-Latin scripts have looked like this:
https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Википедия#.D0.98.D1.81.D1.82.D0.BE.D1.80.D0.B8.D1.8F
instead ofhttps://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Википедия#История
. This has now been fixed on all wikis. Old links will still work. [25] - A new tag marks edits where a redirect was created or removed. This still works when the editor writes something else in the edit summary. You can see the tags for example in the recent changes feed, article history, user contributions or on your watchlist. [26]
- If you use Chrome on Android, you can now use the print to PDF button to create a PDF of an article. [27]
- Filter by number of edits or filter by time range have been grouped on a same menu on the recent changes page if you use the new filters. The "Toon nieuwe wijzigingen sinds $1" link is now more prominent. [28]
- Some of the web fonts that were provided by the Universal Language Selector extension are being removed. This is to reduce the load time on pages. The web fonts were added many years ago to help users read text in scripts which did not have fonts or had broken fonts. This is not the case any more. You can check the status page for a list of all web fonts and whether they are currently being used and especially for special requirements. [29]
Changes later this week

Verzoek[brontekst bewerken]
Tech News
- Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 8 January 2018.
Problems
- When you import a page from another wiki the usernames of the users who edited the article on the wiki you imported it from are shown in the article history. This should link to the users on the original wiki. A script to fix this caused problems for Wikidata and German Wikipedia. It also created a large number of SUL accounts on wikis where editors had never edited. [30]
- Some bot owners got email about their bots logging in from a new computer. If this is from one or a couple of wikis, you can turn these messages off in your preferences on those wikis until the problem has been solved. If not, you can report more about the problem in Phabricator.
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week. There will be no new MediaWiki version next week either.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 19 December at 19:30 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Files on Commons will have structured metadata in the future. The developers are now looking for examples of different kinds of metadata to make sure they are aware of them when they build prototypes for structured data on Commons. You can read more and help by giving examples of interesting media files.
- The Structured Commons team are making sure Commons work with structured data. If you regularly contribute to Commons and Wikidata you can answer a survey that helps the team prioritise the tools that are important for the Commons and Wikidata communities. The survey ends on 22 December. You can read more on Commons. You can also help the team decide on better names for "captions" and "descriptions". This ends on 3 January 2018.
- The 2017 Community Wishlist Survey has now ended. You can see the results. They decide what the Community Tech team will work on next year.
