Hallo Ad Huikeshoven, Bij deze aan jou persoonlijk de oproep om nu actie te ondernemen. Ik zag namelijk dat je ooit een account hebt aangemaakt op Bugzilla. Over enige tijd zal Bugzilla buiten gebruik worden gesteld en verhuizen naar Phabricator die de functie van Bugzilla gaat overnemen. Om deze verhuizing zo goed mogelijk te laten verlopen worden gebruikers met een account op Bugzilla opgeroepen om nu een account aan te maken (inloggen met SUL-account/unified login) op Phabricator en die te koppelen aan het Wikimedia-brede SUL-account. Dit gaat als volgt:

  1. Ga naar https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/start/
  2. Log daar in met je Wikimedia-account. Indien je gevraagd wordt om je Real Name kun je daar je gebruikersnaam of ander pseudoniem invullen dat je gebruikt.
  3. Zorg ervoor dat er voor dat er ingevuld staat welk e-mailadres je gebruikt in je Bugzilla-account: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/email/ Op basis van dit e-mailares worden je bijdragen op Bugzilla gekoppeld aan jouw account. (Indien je een ander e-mailadres gebruikt voor je Wikimedia-account (SUL) is het aanraadzaam dit te wijzigen.)
  4. Voeg onder MediaWiki een link toe naar https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:Ad_Huikeshoven in je profiel op https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/external/
  5. Op je profielpagina staat er nu als het goed is achter MediaWiki Userpage een link naar Ad Huikeshoven.

Ik heb uw artikel Steve Blank ter beoordeling voorgelegd aan de gemeenschap omdat het niet in het Nederlands geschreven is, althans slechts gedeeltelijk en slecht vertaald uit de Engelstalige Wikipedia, en de encyclopedie mijns inziens gebaat is bij verwijdering van het lemma. Ik nodig u uit op de beoordelingslijst een reactie achter te laten.

Onderzoek: de mening van Wikipediabewerkers[brontekst bewerken]

Excuus dat dit bericht zomaar op uw overlegpagina is geplaatst! Graag vragen wij uw aandacht voor het volgende: bureau Motivaction voert momenteel in opdracht van Wikimedia Nederland een enquête uit onder de bewerkers van de Nederlandstalige Wikipedia. Kernvraag is hoe zij het bewerken van Wikipedia ervaren. Hierbij gaat het om zaken als werksfeer, werkdruk, omgangsvormen etc. Omdat de mening van zeer actieve bewerkers zoals uzelf voor het onderzoek heel relevant is, is in overleg met de gemeenschap besloten de 250 meest actieve Nederlandstalige Wikpedianen persoonlijk uit te nodigen om deel te nemen aan de enquête. Ik had nog willen vragen waarom je ervoor gekozen hebt de vragen over de gezondheid van de gemeenschap op Wikipedia te plaatsen. Waarom heb je er niet voor gekozen, zoals gebruikelijk is, om de pagina op Meta naar het Nederlands te vertalen? Je had dan kunnen volstaan met een simpele verwijzing naar Meta. Er staat nota bene een uitnodiging tot vertalen bovenaan de pagina, iets waar onze Franse, Spaanse en Zweedse collega's wel gebruik van hebben gemaakt. Ik kan mij helaas niet aan de indruk onttrekken dat het je er vooral om te doen is tegenover de gemeenschap te bewijzen dat je er ook nog toe doet, door de aandacht op jezelf te vestigen en uit te stralen alsof je dingen achter de schermen aan het regelen bent. Bijdragen aan de opbouw van de encyclopedie doe je niet (minder dan 100 bijdragen aan de hoofdnaamruimte, bovendien van bedenkelijke kwaliteit), je houdt je voornamelijk met randzaken bezig. Dat zou nog enigszins (maar ook niet echt) gerechtvaardigd kunnen zijn als je dat deed vanuit je positie binnen de vereniging Wikimedia Nederland, maar dat blijkt dus niet het geval. Dat is een goede vraag Woodcutterty, "waarom je ervoor gekozen hebt de vragen over de gezondheid van de gemeenschap op Wikipedia te plaatsen". De reden daarvoor is dat mensen wel in hun eigen taal op de Wikipedia in hun eigen taal willen antwoorden, en niet in een andere taal op meta. Hoi Ad, fijn om dit nog even te horen. Ik kan me voorstellen dat mijn opmerkingen bij jou een verkeerde snaar raakten. Het is ook meer mijn eigen frustratie over het niet realiseren van mijn eigen doelen die ervoor zorgen dat ik kritisch ben naar Wikimedia Nederland. Hoi Ad,

Ik meen me te herinneren dat Wikimedia incidenteel het aankopen van boeken en of databaseabonnementen ondersteunt. Ik zie dat er wat behoefte bestaat (waaronder bij mezelf) om de nieuwste editie van het Van Dale woordenboek te kunnen gebruiken. Waar zouden ik (en anderen) een subsidieverzoek voor iets dergelijks in kunnen dienen? Me dunkt dat de firma van Dale zoiets ook zou willen sponsoren als het verzoek van Wikimedia komt. Naar ik heb begrepen wordt de aanschaf van boeken ten bate van Wikipedia uitsluitend in een bruikleenvorm gesubsidieerd (dat wil zeggen, boeken blijven altijd in het bezit van de vereniging), maar de vereniging zou zich misschien beter inzetten voor toegang tot de betaalde digitale versie van de Dikke. Dat is een stuk goedkoper (een jaar toegang kost 75 euro, tegenover 179 euro, maar maand- en kwartaalabonnementen behoren ook tot de mogelijkheden) en een stuk efficiënter. Bovendien wordt de onlineversie wel regelmatig geüpdatet en de gedrukte niet.
Overigens leert de geschiedenis dat de gemeenschap er in veruit de meeste gevallen in slaagt om taalkundige vragen kosteloos te beantwoorden. De behoefte herken ik desondanks wel, het voordeel voor de encyclopedie minder. EvilFreD (overleg) 31 okt 2015 09:20 (CET)Reageren

Hoi Ad, de vraag komt een beetje voort uit discussies zoals deze, waarbij toegang tot een volledig woordenboek handig is. Ik ben het overigens eens met collega EvilFred dat een online abonnement vermoedelijk kosteneffectiever is, en dat heeft vermoedelijk ook het voordeel dat dat niet noodzakelijkerwijs persoonsgebonden hoeft te zijn. Ik zou me kunnen voorstellen dat er vanuit via de FOKA-regeling één of enkele abonnementen worden aangeschaft waarbij WMNL op aanvraag de accountgegevens verleent aan medewerkers die ze op dat ogenblik nodig hebben. Er wordt momenteel gekeken naar het draagvlak voor een Nederlandstalige Wikipedia-bibliotheek bij de gebruikersgemeenschap. Daartoe stond enige tijd geleden een oproep tot discussie in de kroeg; de discussie zelf vindt hier plaats. Het bestuur van WMNL heeft donderdag 12 november 2015 gesproken over de vraag om subsidie voor de aanschaf van een woordenboek. De vraag kwam terug wat dit Wikipedia gaat opleveren aan extra artikelen bijvoorbeeld. Een online abonnement voor een beperkte groep gebruikers zou onderzocht kunnen worden.Milliped zou jij bij de uitgever van dat woordenboek kunnen vragen of ze voor een beperkte groep Wikipedianen een voordelig aanbod kunnen doen? De parameter format gaat regelen hoe na een bewerking met de Visuele tekstverwerker de lay out van een sjabloon in wikitext is. Met "block" komt iedere parameter op een nieuwe regel. Met "inline" (dat is de standaardwaarde) komt alles achter elkaar. Nu is het nog dat bij invoegen van een nieuw sjabloon in een artikel met de Visuele tekstverwerker alles achter elkaar komt, in plaats van iedere parameter op een nieuwe regel. Dat blokkeert volgens sommigen de verdere geleidelijke invoering van de Visuele tekstverwerker. Zie ticket in Phabricator Parsoid on serialisation should use the `format` field from TemplateData if available to set the whitespace formatting of new/edited transclusions. Je maakt er een klerebende van, op alle infoboxen waar je deze code hebt toegevoegd gaat het fout! We hebben gisteravond al jouw sjabloonbewerkingen kunnen repareren.
En het is duidelijk, je hebt zondag ook al geprobeerd om buiten de gemeenschap om de visuele tekstverwerker op nl-wiki te installeren. En je bent van plan om vandaag weer zo'n poging te wagen. Dit gedrag is schadelijk voor Wikipedia. Wij zijn hier niet om jouw rommel op te ruimen. Als je doorgaat met dit gedrag is een blokkade van dit account de enige oplossing. De fout die je maakt is dat je niet weet wat je doet. Je hebt met je bewerkingen de klassieke fout, die we omstreeks 2008-2009 overal gerepareerd hebben, dubbel en dwars opnieuw massaal ingevoerd. Gevolg: op alle betrokken infoboxen ging het fout en dat zijn duizenden artikelen. Als je niet de moeite neemt om serieus te kijken naar hoe elders TemplateData is ingevoegd, terwijl je al lange tijd (klaarblijk tevergeefs) je met dit onderwerp bezighoudt, heeft het geen zin dit uit te leggen. En weet je waarom TemplateDate nog niet breed is ingevoerd? Omdat we steeds de knoeiboel van andere gebruikers moeten opschonen en opruimen omdat die er een bende van maken en niet snappen wat ze doen, en dat gigantisch veel tijd vergt. Je hebt het afgelopen jaar talloze keren de kans gehad om te helpen bij het oplossen van de problemen met de visuele tekstverwerker, maar dat heb je niet lopen doen, maar wel de boel lopen traineren. Ik ben van plan, als ik niet weer door geklooi afgeleid wordt, een project te starten om sjablonen van TemplateData te gaan voorzien, wellicht zelfs met een projectgroepje, maar daar zit jij zeker niet in. En ja ik ben boos op je, onder het mom van helpen #*$!% je de gehele gemeenschap op met je gedrag, op diverse manieren en help je totaal niet mee om de visuele tekstverwerker ingevoerd te krijgen. Weet je waar je sorry voor moet zeggen? Dat je buiten de gemeenschap om je zin probeert door te drukken. Dat je vandaag tijdens een wikimeet stemmen wilt gaan ronselen. Dat je aan canvassing doet. Volgens mij is er geen sprake van het invoeren van dat visuele gedoe als standaard binnen wikipedia-nl dus het lijkt me goed om dit soort zaken niet zomaar te gaan doen zonder kennis van zaken in ieder geval en dan denk ik dat Romaine het goed serieus oppakt en weet waar hij mee bezig is en dan ook het goed kan doen als het nodig blijkt ergens voor en dat ook kan communiceren wat er waarom gebeurt voor mensen die met het visuele gedoe willen gaan werken per eigen keuze. Ah, nu zie ik [deze edit]. Je wilt boven de templatedata het kopje ===Template Data===, en de categorieën onderaan de pagina. Uit je bewoordingen maak ik op dat je die opmaak conventie heel belangrijk vindt. Je had me ook op de opmaakconventie kunnen wijzen en vragen mijn wijzigingen daarop aan te passen. De TemplateData manager voegt kennelijk automatisch de templatedata aan het einde toe, in plaats van voor de categorieën; en de TemplateData manager zet er kennelijk niet automatisch een kopje boven. Dag Ad. Ik heb helemaal geen wens ofzo. Wat Phabricator is is me ook duister. Wel denk ik dat het goed is om eens te overleggen over iets nieuws wat je blijkbaar wil op een andere manier dan je nu doet namelijk allemaal onheldere zaken wijzigen overal en met problemen want daarbij zijn er dus ook fouten geïntroduceerd blijkbaar waar niemand op zit te wachten. Hoi MoiraMoira. Phabricator is de opvolger van Bugzilla, het platform waar wijzigingsverzoeken en bugreports over MediaWiki verwerkt worden https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/. Eerlijk gezegd zie ik een verschil tussen "fout" en "indeling anders dan opmaakconventie". Ad Huikeshoven (overleg) 25 nov 2015 11:18 (CET)Reageren
Studeer er vooral nog eens langer op, want er zit nog een heel ander verschil in je bewerkingen die wél voor problemen zorgt. Ook al was de opmaak totaal fout, dat is nog bijzaak ten opzichte van het hoofdprobleem. En merk tevens op dat Akoopal gisteravond reeds heeft aangegeven dat je serie bewerkingen weinig zinvol is. Aangezien de fout vrij subtiel is, geef ik het maar duidelijker aan. Omdat je de templatedata met includeonly's op een aparte regel zet komt er effectief extra witruimte in het sjabloon, en daarmee komen ook witregels in de artikelen waar de infobox gebruikt word. En nog even herhalen wat ik op de feedbackpagina zei, een templatedata die de parameters niet defineert is niet zinnig. Akoopal overleg 25 nov 2015 12:10 (CET)Reageren

The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).

After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.

In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.

Snippet: Education Leaders at WISE Doha 2015 introducing Wikipedia Education Program in Egypt to WISE Conference attendees, as an example of a program in the Arab World, to share their experience to inspire other universities and institutions starting new programs in the area.

WISE 2015 Sessions and Plenaries were designed around three main pillars such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals; education and the economy; fostering innovation in education systems. Each pillar examined a variety of key topics including: the linkages between education, employment, and entrepreneurship; education reform and innovation in the MENA region and Qatar; emerging models of education financing, attracting, rewarding and retaining quality teachers; and the importance of investing in early childhood development.

Representatives of Wikipedia Education Program Walaa Abdel Manaem and Reem Al-Kashif participated in WISE Doha 2015 in Qatar, the annual World Innovation Summit for Education is the premier international platform dedicated to innovation and creative action in education where top decision-makers share insights with on-the-ground practitioners and collaborate to rethink education. Also, WISE 2015 was the first global education conference following the ratification of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015. Contributions ranged from Arabic Brochure of Editing Wikipedia for students in WEP in Egypt and everybody who would like to edit Wikipedia without ‎problems, The Arabic version of Welcome to Wikipedia reference guideline, PDF of brochure handed out during Arabic Wikipedia Convening, Doha, Qatar, 2011 and Introduction to Wikipedia. These contributions are related to show a case study of Wikipedia Education program in Egypt and how it worked since February 2012 till the November 2015, as the seventh edition ended last October. All discussions were about the program's mechanism and what were the motivations keeping it going. The program helped increasing gender diversity and supported the featured content on Arabic Wikipedia. Wikipedia Education Program, like any other initiative, has achievements and dark sides, for that reason, the representatives had to locate both of them and how they influence the Arabic community and how the community interact with this phenomenon.

Wikipedia in Higher Education in Israel: A new for-credit elective course focusing on contributing to Wikipedia at Tel Aviv University

Snippet: A first-of-its-kind, for-credit, elective course that focuses on contributing to Wikipedia has opened at Tel Aviv University and is now available to all B.A. students on campus

On October 19th a new for-credit elective course called "Wikipedia: Skills for producing and consuming knowledge"[1] has opened at Tel Aviv University (TAU). The semester-long course (13 weeks) is available to all B.A. students on campus and this semester about 50 students from various disciplines are taking part in this first-of-its-kind course in Israel.

Working in small groups to correct copyrights and Non-NPOV violations

The course draws from "flipped classroom" concepts and uses "blended learning" methods, which practically means combining in-class lectures, workshops and small-group activities, as well as online individual learning. Both the Moodle learning management system (LMS) and the Wikipedia Education Extension are used to monitor the students' work and progress throughout the course.

The course has 2 main assignments - expanding an existing stub, as well as writing a new article, in the hopes that the content added during the course will assist not only the students themselves, but also future generations of learners as well as the general public. Though the course focuses on adding quality content to Wikipedia, it also aims to help students sharpen their academic skills and their 21st century skills, highlighting collaborative learning, joint online research and interdisciplinary collaborations in the process of constructing knowledge.

This course was initiated and is led by Shani Evenstein, an educator, Wikimedian and member of the Wikipedia Education Collaborative, in collaboration with the Orange Institute for Internet Studies, as well as the School of Education at TAU. The syllabus for the new course builds on the success of Wiki-Med, a for-credit elective course, which was designed in 2013 and is led by Evenstein at the Sackler school of Medicine for the third consecutive year. While Wiki-med is focused on contributing medical content to Wikipedia and is only available to Medical Students on campus, the new course is designed to accommodate students from different academic disciplines and varying backgrounds.

The course was chosen to be part of TAU's cross-discipline elective courses system ("Kelim Shluvim") and was approved by the Vice-Rector, who heads the program. In that, the course marks an important precedent in the collaboration between Academia and the Wikipedia Education Program, as it is the first time a higher institution acknowledges the importance of a course focusing on Wikipedia on a university level, offering it to all students, rather than a faculty level or individual lecturers as mostly practiced. It is our hope that other higher education institutions will follow this example and offer similar courses to students both in Israel and around the world.

The collaborative production in open educational environments: Is Wikipedia an answer?

How to be a Wikipedian in a week (educactional MOOC for university professors)

Educators with different profiles and from different latin america countries, but most of them professors at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) from different faculties, have just participated in the online training and free course "Educational scenarios with technology. Among the real and the possible" organized by the Center for Innovation in Technology and Pedagogy (CITEP) of this university.

Different educational activities were carried out simultaneously. During the week and under the topic “Open movement”, Wikimedia Argentina participated with three different proposals: starting with an interview of Patricio Lorente accompanied with a short text to know more about the movement. To make an immersive experience we designed " Knowing Wikipedia by first-hand or Wikipedia in the first person" to work directly on the platform translating articles from english to spanish from a list created especially for that purpose. Along with this specific proposal, educators participated in a videoconference with Galileo Vidoni (available in Spanish), where participants could talk and learn more about how are the first steps to become a Wikipedian and the importance of the movement at the local and regional level.

A professor´s educational experience with Wikipedia explained with a tweet. He said: "I´m translating, enjoying and learning with Wikipedia". Know more experiences on Storify.

With only seven days and without being mandatory, different educators discovered how to edit on Wikipedia, indeed many of them mentioned that they had it as a pending to learn and participate on the free encyclopedia, but never had the time or the real chance. The enthusiasm was also present on social networks, where they shared the experience with the hashtag #escenariostec.

The result

More than 100 educators got involved and exchanged their experience in an online forum with more of 280 messages that reflected their learning process while experiencing with the activity. 80 of them were new users, and they created 61 new articles in spanish. An important fact: 78 of them were women, which means that working with educators is a key issue to continue closing the digital gender gap.

Finally from CITEP, they shared the following insights regarding the question that ran through all the activities that took place during the week dedicated to the open movement. Some thoughts can be sum up as follows:

The collaborative production in open environments: chaos or construction? (...) For the teacher also means accepting new challenges: encourage students to produce knowledge in an environment of divergent nature, it requires permanent operations and convergence. In a space that fosters interventions unmarked, the teacher needs to frame depending on the purpose of education and teaching purposes. (…) Wikipedia is the best example of the challenges posed by the digital era in the educational field, it forces us to rethink the relationship between technology and the production of knowledge and allows us to confirm that the collaborative work does not lead to chaos, if not to the construction. Collaboration with Masaryk University turns official

Snippet: The second largest university in the Czech Republic has employed a Wikipedian in residence, leading to a boom of Wikimedia activities in the city of Brno.

Collaboration between Wikipedia and Czech institutions has always been a priority for Wikimedia Czech Republic, but the year 2015 has taken this to another level. First, an official memorandum of collaboration with the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) was signed in May 2015, to be followed by official collaboration with Masaryk University in Brno (the second largest city and university in the Czech Republic), which was contracted in November 2015. In fact, Wikimedia activities in Brno have been blooming for several years now, mainly as a result of the community's own development, but aided substantially by the external interest in Wikipedia by Masaryk University alumni society, demonstrated as early as March 2013.

In February 2015, the university employed one of the most experienced Czech Wikipedians – Marek Blahuš (Blahma) – who was appointed to become the university's first "Wikipedian in residence". Marek Blahuš has been in the center of the Wikimedia community in Brno for about two years, organizing regular Wikipedia meetups, the 2014 edition of the annual WikiConference (more in English here) and creating the Czech-Slovak Wikipedia translation tool, which has famously led to the creation of >9000 articles on Czech and Slovak Wikipedias (more in English here). His current work as Wikipedian in residence is funded by Masaryk University and runs under the patronage of Wikimedia Czech Republic as well as Masaryk University's rector Mikuláš Bek.

Since February, Wikipedia has taken a prominent role within Masaryk University. Marek Blahuš started a "Masaryk University Wikipedians team", gathering local Wikipedians and facilitating contacts with the university, aided by his status of a graduate and current employee in its language center. Articles about Masaryk University alumni and faculties have been identified and improved after consultations with Masaryk University archives and libraries which provided helpful resources. Wikipedia citation templates can now be directly generated from the university's on-line archive of theses. In September, a public conference called "Masaryk University Is Getting High on Wikipedia" took place on university grounds, featuring the experienced Wikipedian Jan Sokol (Sokoljan), who is a philosopher, university teacher and a former presidential candidate. The talks focused on the use of Wikipedia in university education, in line with the successful Czech "Students Write Wikipedia" program. One of the teachers, Jiří Rambousek, expressed his desire to organize a Wikipedia Club as a regular meetup where articles would be improved in a collaborative effort and new editors introduced to Wikipedia.

The program is actively preparing for 2016 when we expect Wikimedia Czech Republic to take a more active role in overseeing the initiatives as well as the creation of a position of a "Wikipedian in Brno" – person officially in charge of the wide array of Wikimedia activities happening in the city. The chapter's annual plan includes initiatives to increase the number of university courses which incorporate Wikipedia into the curriculum, public presentations of Wikipedia at various events, scanning and uploading of images from institutional and personal archives, and much more. Wiki expeditions, animation clips about alebrijes and more at the Tec de Monterrey in Mexico

For the Fall 2015 Wiki Learning-Tec de Monterrey held two wiki expeditions in Mexico City and began a collaboration with the Museo de Arte Popular. We also received our first grant!

The 32-campus Tec de Monterrey system has each semester an event called "Semana i" (i Week), when students forego normal classes for an entire week to work on challenging projects called "retos." For the Mexico City and Santa Fe campuses, one option for students was to work with Wikimedia, with the aptly named projects "Reto Wikimedia." Both campuses opted to do wiki-expeditions to different parts of Mexico City. The Mexico City campus had the larger group with almost 90 students registered, who covered the two southern boroughs of Xochimilco and Tlalpan. The Santa Fe group had 35 participants, and covered the San Ángel neighborhood found not far from this campus.

Both campus took photos of landmarks with the Mexico City campus also focusing on photos of everyday life in the south of the city. The Mexico City campus tallied 5264 photos, 8 videos and 36 articles, including articles related to the area into French, Swedish and Danish. The Santa Fe group tallied 605 photos, and ten articles in Spanish on landmarks in San Ángel.

In addition, the Mexico City campus had a special speaker the borough chronicler of Xochmilco, Sebastián Flores Farfán. A short montage video of the event is in the works.

Wikiservicio, students working with Wikimedia for their community service requirement, added a new component. To attract more students and encourage more students to do all of their community service hours with Wikimedia, a collaboration was set up with the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP)... the first of many we hope! Six students from the digital art and animation major (see last newsletter) have continued working with Wikimedia, but focusing their efforts in creating short animation clips in relation to the mission of promoting and preserving Mexican folk art. One clip has been completed and can be see to the right of this text. So far, the video has subtitles in English, German, French and Punjabi. A second clip is nearing completion at the time of this writing.

Classes and Wikimetrics[brontekst bewerken]

Fifteen students completed work with Wikiservicio doing translations, writing new articles and doing photography projects. As of this date, 7 have indicated interest in working with Wikiservicio on campus and another six with MAP.

Five university level classes and one high school class on the Mexico City (South) campus have had projects, all in writing and translation, with some video work.

First grant Wiki Learning received its first grant from the Wikimedia Foundation. The long-term goal of this grant is to establish a system for financing Wiki Learning. The grant, which totals a modest 12,500 Mexican pesos, will be used for swag, such as t shirts, stickers, buttons, etc, especially for Semana i activities and promotion of wiki activities to other campus. The money will also be used for incidental travel expenses, especially for projects needing to move expensive camera equipment.

Wikimedia Argentina, about the global and local in the digital and academic communities

The digital free magazine Aprender para Educar (Learning to educate) of the National Technological University (UTN) is recognized in the community of education and technology in Argentina to write about innovation issues in Spanish, which is not common in the academic dissemination and teacher training field.

Cristina Velazquez, general editor of the magazine invited Wikimedia Argentina to write an article that generally describes their activities in the Education Program, after reading the proposal she decided to publish it as the main article of the 12th edition.

To describe the education program, WMAR wrote two notes completing one another, as doing a zoom: from the local to the global and from the global to the local, showing how a movement of this magnitude does not stand alone, it is part of a huge network.

Melina Masnatta, education manager in WMAR and Patricio Lorente, chair of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees wrote those two notes.The first one focuses on the Education Program, implementation, challenges and obstacles that they had at the beginning, plans to integrate it into the classrooms in Argentina and how different Wikimedia Projects are also relevant in education. The most important thing, Melina adds, is to strengthen the values that inspire them, show how the free culture give meaning to education in general and digital culture in particular.

Meanwhile in the second part, Lorente focuses on the global movement, the community pillars, the agenda of today's challenges and the effort of their volunteers as protagonists. It is not easy show the world what drives us and why we work as volunteers in different countries. In education very few people understand the value of building free knowledge. There is still a great prejudice or negative perceptions of Wikipedia in the classroom because teachers ignore how Wikipedia is built.

Everybody reads Wikipedia, but few people edit it. We can change this fact by spreading in spaces such as the Journal of the UTN and inviting more people to collaborate and be the protagonist of this huge collective work for humanity.

Online ambassador played a prominent role in helping Egyptian students to nominate their excellent content

Bassem Fleifel, an online ambassador of Cairo university spanish course, played a prominent role to help all students to encourage them to nominate their excellent content to be a featured and good articles in Arabic Wikipedia. Those articles are History of bread (Featured article); Walt Disney; Daniel Radcliffe; Al-Andalus; Poet in New York; and Popol Vuh.

The seventh term, the program started in Cairo University with promoting posts on Wikipedia and social media websites to help new participants understand the general idea of the program as well as holding meetings with professors from the departments of History, chinese, English language and Spanish language. Walaa Abdel Manaem (program leader in Cairo University) and Bassem Fleifel (online ambassador) have held some workshops in campus and online for the whole students to teach them "How to edit Wikipedia". On the other hand, Prof. Abeer Abdel-Hafiz has exerted great efforts with her students in addition to introducing Walaa to new classes of senior students for whom she has organized general seminars about Wikipedia and the education program. At the same time Walaa was assigning her Spanish department students of the first and second year to edit Wikipedia.

This term, Prof. Abeer let the chance to her students to choose any articles they would like to translate from the Spanish Wikipedia to the Arabic Wikipedia or working on articles about history. They already have chosen some articles to translate with the target of nominating them to be a featured and good articles.

Most of students worked on articles about different topics like history, writers, actors, history of food and drink, mayan literature, islam and politics, etc. This course itself achieved an exceptional record of Wikipedia Education program excellent content and the best term ever in the history of WEP in Egypt in general and in the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University in specific. Walaa has held 2 online webinars to follow up with her students in addition to the workshops held at the campus. Regarding numbers, 38 students joined this course, of which 35 are female and 3 are male students. They worked on 1748 articles adding more than 12,282,943 million bytes to the article namespace on the Arabic Wikipedia, with the help of the online ambassador, who also participated as a student.

Norwegian Masters students in History and Archeology twists their brains on Wikipedia

Snippet: This fall masters students in History and Archeology at the University of Oslo take on the task of Wikipedia editing as one of the main parts in a subject on communication of History.

The University of Oslo is Norway’s largest higher education institution, and it is the first time Wikimedia Norway collaborates with this University in forming and using Wikipedia editing as a integrated part of higher education. The collaboration started by Wikimedia Norway contacting assistant professor John McNicol, who already had gotten some media attention on his eagerness to make students skilled in knowledge sharing.

Starting off with a two hour lecture on the secret world of Wikipedia and a two hour editing workshop in mid-September, and in October the students will evaluate the life of their articles. Has there been many additional edits on their articles? Discussions? Request to delete everything? For Wikimedia Norge it is fun to see the students both engaging in Wikipedia editing and using the ways of Wikipedia to discuss how knowledge is formed.

Deze vergelijkbare wijziging heeft tot gevolg dat er een schuifbalkje onder de grafiek komt te staan die daar voorheen niet stond. Die wordt nodig doordat rechts in de cirkel een plaatsnaam staat die nu binnen de afgekaderde ruimte van 400 pixels moet passen. Voorheen was er 500 pixels gereserveerd. Ad, kan het zijn dat die wijziging tot gevolg heeft dat de plaats in kwestie niet helemaal meer in het midden staat? Zowel op Wounded Knee (South Dakota) als op Roswell (New Mexico) staat de net iets ten zuidwesten van het midden. San Francisco idem dito. Richard 7 jun 2017 10:10 (CEST)Reageren
Richard je hebt gelijk dat was me ook opgevallen dat die punt ten zuidwesten van het midden staat. Ik heb via de geschiedenis van die artikels naar een oudere versie gekeken zonder sjabloon begin en eind en daar staat ook die punt ten zuidwesten van het midden. Het is me een raadsel hoe dit komt. Ja, inderdaad. Toch maak ik me sterk dat dat nog niet het geval was toen die oude versies nog de huidige versies waren. Vreemd... Zou er ergens anders iets gewijzigd zijn dat dit als bijwerking heeft? Ik heb nog even in de Engelstalige versies van de artikelen zitten kijken, maar die hebben niet zo'n dartbord. In de oude versies werd al veelvuldig gebruik gemaakt van {{Afbeelding label}}. Aan dat sjabloon is eind mei sjabloondocumentatie toegevoegd. Dat zou geen wijziging in de werking mogen geven. Alles wat toen toegevoegd is, staat tussen de noinclude-tags en zou dus inderdaad geen verschil mogen maken. Als ik een oude versie van de sjabloon ophaal en daarmee een voorvertoning doe van een oude versie van een artikel dat de sjabloon gebruikt, (b)lijkt dat ook inderdaad zo te zijn. In de tussentijd denk ik wel te weten waardoor het probleem veroorzaakt wordt, al snap ik niet waarom het zich nu pas uit: in {{Afbeelding label}} worden de x- en y-coördinaten vermenigvuldigd met de opgegeven schaalfactor, waarna er absolute correcties van 6 respectievelijk 8 pixels gedaan worden. Op het bovenstaand sjabloon zag ik dat u gisteren een bewerking hebt gedaan. Ik begrijp er helemaal niets van, en misschien ben ik bij u ook niet aan het goede adres, maar ik kwam er omdat ik op de pagina Los Angeles de stippen+plaatsnamen die op het kaartje onder "Plaatsen in de nabije omgeving" horen, helemaal bovenaan de pagina over de inleiding heen zie. Niet alleen als ik achter de computer zit, maar ook op de iPad. Heeft dat misschien iets met uw bewerking te maken? En zo niet, heeft u enig idee waar deze bug door komt? Moi Ad. Ik gebruik regelmatig de knop willekeurige pagina. Als ik dan op een plaats in de VS terecht kom, en dat kan makkeijk gebeuren, deed ik meestal twee bewerkingen. Ik verwijderde het dartsbord met omliggende plaatsen, en ik schrapte de onbegrijpelijke paragraaf demografie (daar wordt de uitkomst van een volkstelling uit 2000 vergeleken met een schatting uit 2006, imo appels en peren). Ik zie nu echter dat jij op grote schaal de dartsborden aan het repareren bent. Ik zal ze daarom maar niet meer verwijderen want dat zou erg oncollegiaal zijn. Maar desondanks vraag ik me wel af wat de zin van die dingen is. Al die plaatsen hebben een kaartje dat je kan aanklikken waarop plaatsen in de omgeving die een lemma hebben gemarkeerd zijn, het dartbord is dus dubbelop, en eerlijk gezegd, mooi zijn ze niet. Did you know that you can now use the visual diff tool on any page?

Sometimes, it is hard to see important changes in a wikitext diff. This screenshot of a wikitext diff (click to enlarge) shows that the paragraphs have been rearranged, but it does not highlight the removal of a word or the addition of a new sentence.

If you enable the Beta Feature for "⧼visualeditor-preference-visualdiffpage-label⧽", you will have a new option. It will give you a new box at the top of every diff page. This box will let you choose either diff system on any edit.

Click the toggle button to switch between visual and wikitext diffs.

In the visual diff, additions, removals, new links, and formatting changes will be highlighted. Other changes, such as changing the size of an image, are described in notes on the side.

This screenshot shows the same edit as the wikitext diff. The visual diff highlights the removal of one word and the addition of a new sentence.

You can read and help translate the user guide, which has more information about how to use the visual editor.

Since the last newsletter, the Editing Team has spent most of their time supporting the 2017 wikitext editor mode, which is available inside the visual editor as a Beta Feature, and improving the visual diff tool. Their work board is available in Phabricator. You can find links to the work finished each week at mw:VisualEditor/Weekly triage meetings. Their current priorities are fixing bugs, supporting the 2017 wikitext editor, and improving the visual diff tool.

Recent changes[brontekst bewerken]

  • The 2017 wikitext editor is available as a Beta Feature on desktop devices. It has the same toolbar as the visual editor and can use the citoid service and other modern tools. The team have been comparing the performance of different editing environments. They have studied how long it takes to open the page and start typing. The study uses data for more than one million edits during December and January. Some changes have been made to improve the speed of the 2017 wikitext editor and the visual editor. Recently, the 2017 wikitext editor opened fastest for most edits, and the 2010 WikiEditor was fastest for some edits. More information will be posted at mw:Contributors/Projects/Editing performance.
  • The visual diff tool was developed for the visual editor. It is now available to all users of the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor. When you review your changes, you can toggle between wikitext and visual diffs. You can also enable the new Beta Feature for "Visual diffs". The Beta Feature lets you use the visual diff tool to view other people's edits on page histories and Special:RecentChanges. [2]
  • Wikitext syntax highlighting is available as a Beta Feature for both the 2017 wikitext editor and the 2010 wikitext editor. [3]
  • The citoid service automatically translates URLs, DOIs, ISBNs, and PubMed id numbers into wikitext citation templates. It is very popular and useful to editors, although it can be a bit tricky to set up. Your wiki can have this service. Please read the instructions. You can ask the team to help you enable citoid at your wiki.

You have volunteered to be a coordinator for the Talk pages consultation 2019. Thank you again!

Community summaries are due by Saturday, April 6, 2019. It is now time to close the conversations. We really thank everyone who has participated. Every opinion matters.

What is a community summary?

The goal of a community summary is to wrap up the discussions and provide a summary of what your participants said. That way, other communities can learn about your community's needs, concerns, and ideas. We have seen very different feedback on different wikis, and it is time to discover what everyone thinks!

Please include in that summary:

  • every perspective or idea your community had, and
  • how frequent each idea was; for example,
    • how many users shared a given opinion
    • whether an idea was more common among different types of contributors (newcomers, beginners, experienced editors...)

You can add as much detail as you want in that summary.

Please post it on the page for community summaries, using the most international English you have.

Can't the Wikimedia Foundation read all the feedback?

We are trying, but we really need your help. For most conversations, we have to use machine translation, which has limitations. This can help us find the most common needs or global ideas. Machine translation is useful, but it does not tell us how people are feeling or what makes your community unique.

Your community summary should be built from your community's perspective, experience and culture. You might also know of relevant discussions in other places, which we did not find (for example, perhaps someone left a note on your user talk page – it is okay to include that!). Your summary is extremely important to us.

What are the next steps?

Phase 2 will happen in April. We will analyze the individual feedback, your community summary, and some user testing. We hope to have a clear view of everyone's ideas and needs at the end of April.

Some ideas generated during phase 1 may be mutually exclusive. Some ideas might work better for some purposes or some kinds of users. During Phase 2, we'll all talk about which problems are more urgent, which projects are most closely aligned with the overall needs and goals of the movement, and which ideas we should focus on first.

Discussions about these ideas may be shaped and be moderated by the Wikimedia Foundation, guided by our decision criteria, listed on the project page.

How can I help now?

  • Please provide the summary. :)
  • While we study the feedback, we may ask you for more information.
  • We will need your help for Phase 2 as well, probably to translate or publicize some future materials we may have.

The Wikimedia Foundation is currently conducting a global consultation about communication. The goal is to bring Wikimedians and wiki-minded people together to improve tools for communication.

Phase 1 of the consultation is over, thank you very much for your help on setting up that first phase. We've published the Phase 1 report. The report summarizes what we've learned, proposes a direction for the project, and asks specific questions to explore in Phase 2.

Very briefly, the proposed direction is that wikitext talk pages should be improved, and not replaced. We propose building a new design on top of talk pages that changes the page's default appearance, and offers key tools like replying, indenting and signing posts. To keep consistency with existing tools, the new design will be a default experience that existing users can opt out of. We also propose building features that experienced contributors want, including the ability to watchlist a single discussion, and the ability to move, archive and search for threads. Building these features may require some loss of flexibility, or small-to-medium changes in wikitext conventions. The goal is to only make changes that directly enable functionality that users really want.

You can see more information and discussion about the proposed direction in the Phase 1 report, including the results of new user tests and some of the quotations from Phase 1 discussions that led to this proposal.

Now it's time to start Phase 2!

We have six questions to discuss in Phase 2, asking for reactions to the proposed direction, and pros and cons for specific changes that we could make.

Can you help by hosting a discussion at your wiki? Here's what to do:

  1. First, sign up your group here.
  2. Next, create a page (or a section on a Village pump, a dedicated page, or an e-mail thread – whatever is natural for your group) to collect information from other people in your group.
  3. Then start the conversation with the six questions listed in the Questions for Phase 2 section of the report.
  4. Inform your community about the Phase 2. We will display a banner on the wikis when some communities will have setup their local consultation places.
  5. When the conversation is concluded, please write a summary of the discussion on the Phase 2 community discussion summaries page, and report what you learned from your group. Please include links if the discussion is available to the public. Community summaries for Phase 2 are due by June 15, 2019

Talk pages consultation Phase 2 update[brontekst bewerken]

The Phase 2 of the talk pages consultation has begun. Several communities have already signed-up. This email is sent to every Phase 1 coordinator to provide you some updates.

If you prefer not to participate to the phase 2 as a coordinator, no worries: you can ignore that message, and you will not receive any message from us for the phase 2. In the future, we will only send messages to people who've listed their names on the phase 2 page. You've been very helpful for the phase 1 and we still thank you for your help. Can you forward this message to other people who may help?

Create a group or have it ready

Some groups are ready, some other are still under construction and we still miss some languages or wikis. We invite you to sign-up your community page for the phase 2.

We have two tables: one for under construction pages, the other one for ready-to-go pages. Under construction pages should be listed: we can help you to built it if needed. Those pages have to list the questions we have and should provide a link to the Phase 1 report.

Pages that are ready to be used have to be moved to the "Confirmed participant groups" section to that we can add them to the banner.

Banner and advertizing

When a community page is ready, we will help you to have it known. We are going to display a banner with link to the consultation on your wiki. We need some help to translate that banner (it is very short). We will not display a banner without translation to your community.

Don't forget to add a link to the consultation to any page on your wiki where people can see the information. You can also invite other wikis in your language to participate to one global page (like for Russian language).

Don't forget to post the information about Phase 2 on social medias related to your wiki(s), and ping people who participated to the phase 1.

Welcome back to the Editing newsletter.

Since the last newsletter, the team has released two new features for the mobile visual editor and has started developing three more. All of this work is part of the team's goal to make editing on mobile web simpler.

Before talking about the team's recent releases, we have a question for you:

Recent releases[brontekst bewerken]

The mobile visual editor is a simpler editing tool, for smartphones and tablets using the mobile site. The Editing team recently launched two new features to improve the mobile visual editor:

  1. Section editing
    • The purpose is to help contributors focus on their edits.
    • The team studied this with an A/B test. This test showed that contributors who could use section editing were 1% more likely to publish the edits they started than people with only full-page editing.
  2. Loading overlay
    • The purpose is to smooth the transition between reading and editing.

Section editing and the new loading overlay are now available to everyone using the mobile visual editor.

New and active projects[brontekst bewerken]

This is a list of our most active projects. Watch these pages to learn about project updates and to share your input on new designs, prototypes and research findings.

  • Edit cards: This is a clearer way to add and edit links, citations, images, templates, etc. in articles. You can try this feature now. Go here to see how: 📲 Try Edit Cards.
  • Mobile toolbar refresh: This project will learn if contributors are more successful when the editing tools are easier to recognize.
  • Mobile visual editor availability: This A/B test asks: Are newer contributors more successful if they use the mobile visual editor? We are collaborating with 20 Wikipedias to answer this question.
  • Usability improvements: This project will make the mobile visual editor easier to use. The goal is to let contributors stay focused on editing and to feel more confident in the editing tools.

  • Wikimania: Several members of the Editing Team will be attending Wikimania in August 2019. They will lead a session about mobile editing in the Community Growth space. Talk to the team about how editing can be improved.
  • Talk Pages: In the coming months, the Editing Team will begin improving talk pages and communication on the wikis.

Over the past six months, a big consultation was hosted on various wikis about talk pages. You have helped us to host those conversations on your wiki, and we want to thank you about your help. Without your assistance, it would not have been possible to achieve it.

We are happy to inform you that the the Phase 2 report is now published. Like every community member, you are more than welcomed to write your thoughts about this report on the talk page, and watchlist the project page.

The publication is an important step: now we have a direction and the Editing team is going to work on the talk pages project. The next steps will be presented at Wikimania, on Saturday August 17, at 14:00 UTC. The session will be livrstreamed and recorded.

Inside this newsletter, the Editing team talks about their work on the mobile visual editor, on the new talk pages project, and at Wikimania 2019.

What talk page interactions do you remember? Is it a story about how someone helped you to learn something new? Is it a story about how someone helped you get involved in a group? Something else? Whatever your story is, we want to hear it!

Please tell us a story about how you used a talk page. Please share a link to a memorable discussion, or describe it on the talk page for this project. The team wants your examples. These examples will help everyone develop a shared understanding of what this project should support and encourage.

Talk pages project[brontekst bewerken]

The Talk Pages Consultation was a global consultation to define better tools for wiki communication. From February through June 2019, more than 500 volunteers on 20 wikis, across 15 languages and multiple projects, came together with members of the Foundation to create a product direction for a set of discussion tools. The Phase 2 Report of the Talk Page Consultation was published in August. It summarizes the product direction the team has started to work on, which you can read more about here: Talk Page Project project page.

The team needs and wants your help at this early stage. They are starting to develop the first idea. Please add your name to the "Getting involved" section of the project page, if you would like to hear about opportunities to participate.

Mobile visual editor[brontekst bewerken]

The Editing team is trying to make it simpler to edit on mobile devices. The team is changing the visual editor on mobile. If you have something to say about editing on a mobile device, please leave a message at Talk:VisualEditor on mobile.

Edit Cards[brontekst bewerken]

What happens when you click on a link. The new Edit Card is bigger and has more options for editing links.

Toolbar[brontekst bewerken]

The editing toolbar is changing in the mobile visual editor. The old system had two different toolbars. Now, all the buttons are together. Tell the team what you think about the new toolbar.
  • In September, the Editing team updated the mobile visual editor's editing toolbar. Anyone could see these changes in the mobile visual editor.
    • One toolbar: All of the editing tools are located in one toolbar. Previously, the toolbar changed when you clicked on different things.
    • New navigation: The buttons for moving forward and backward in the edit flow have changed.
    • Seamless switching: an improved workflow for switching between the visual and wikitext modes.

Wikimania[brontekst bewerken]

The Editing Team attended Wikimania 2019 in Sweden. They led a session on the mobile visual editor and a session on the new talk pages project. They tested two new features in the mobile visual editor with contributors. You can read more about what the team did and learned in the team's report on Wikimania 2019.

Looking ahead[brontekst bewerken]

  • Talk Pages Project: The team is thinking about the first set of proposed changes. The team will be working with a few communities to pilot those changes. The best way to stay informed is by adding your username to the list on the project page: Getting involved.
  • Testing the mobile visual editor as the default: The Editing team plans to post results before the end of the calendar year. The best way to stay informed is by adding the project page to your watchlist: VisualEditor as mobile default project page.

Aanpassingen Visual Editor[brontekst bewerken]

Beste Ad. Las dat je je bezighield met automatische aanpassingen in de broncode. Een van die automatismen is dat bij gebruik van de visual editor bij het aanmaken van een bronvermelding middels sjabloon automatisch bij een Nederlandstalige bronvermelding de omschrijving nl wordt aangegeven. Dit lijkt mij op een Nederlandstalige site een overbodigheid. Daarnaast wordt dit sowieso meestal niet aangegeven bij bronvermeldingen. Je krijgt dan dat er bij Nederlandstalige bronvermeldingen wel en niet wordt aangegeven dat de bron in de Nederlandse taal is. Dat oogt slordig, lijkt mij. Ik stel voor te bewerkstelligen dat die vermelding niet meer automatisch verschijnt. Hoop dat je hiermee uit de voeten kunt. Alvast bedankt voor een reactie. @Happytravels: Op mijn kladblok heb ik met de VisualEditor een referentie naar een Nederlandstalige webpagina toegevoegd door in het menu op Referentie te klikken en de url te plakken, zie https://nl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gebruiker:Ad_Huikeshoven/Kladblok&type=revision&diff=55495442&oldid=49395281&diffmode=source. Citoid (en niet de VisualEditor) voegt dan automatisch een sjabloon {{Sjabloon:Citeer web}} in, echter zonder de taal-parameter, want Nederlandstalig. Ja klopt, hier staat een bronvermelding naar de Volkskrant, met taal=nl-NL, de NL haalde Romainebot bij een volgende edit weer weg. Toen ik de overbodige nl's met een botje ging weghalen kwam daar ook weer bezwaar tegen, sommige mensen vonden het wel netjes staan, de vermeldingen {{nl}} en {{en}} onder elkaar. (Heb geen zin om die discussie op te zoeken). Als altijd is de gemeenschap hier verdeeld.
Hier nog een test. Je ziet dat alles voorkomt, geen taalvermelding, taal=nl, taal=nl-NL en taal=NL. De verschillen zullen wel te wijten zijn aan de info op de website. Elly (overleg) 20 jan 2020 23:24 (CET)Reageren
Wat je mogelijkerwijs zou willen is logica inbouwen in de citeer web sjabloon dat als taal=nl of taal=nl-NL of taal=NL dat ie dan niks laat zien ipv (nl). Of dat met een gewoon sjabloon kan weet ik niet, misschien heb je daar een Lua module voor nodig. De Nederlandse sjablonen zijn geleend van de engelstalige wikipedia. Daar is de cite web template al veel verder doorontwikkeld. En daar is discussie of (en) onderdrukt kan worden als language=en. Je kan in de geschiedenis van de sjablonen zien wie 'm ooit bewerkt hebben en bij hen om hulp vragen. Ze zitten behoorlijk ingewikkeld in elkaar. Missie WMNL?[brontekst bewerken]

Beste Ad (ik schreef je ook aan op nl.wikimedia.org, misschien hier handiger?)

Je weet vast raad: WMNL heeft een internationaal unieke afwijkende missie en visie:

  • "Missie en visie - De visie van de Vereniging Wikimedia Nederland is die van de gehele Wikimedia-beweging:
Stel je een wereld voor waarin een ieder vrijelijk kan delen in het geheel van alle kennis. Daar staan wij voor!"
(link, vergelijk Jimbo's antwoord en video via Wikipedia:De kern van alle menselijke kennis. Hij zei dat hij sum = summary bedoelde).

Volgens mij is deze versie van WMNL onhoudbaar omdat Wales, de WMF en alle andere landenafelingen (chapters) een andere visie hanteren die strijdig is met die van WMNL. Bovendien willen we helemaal niet álle kennis, vaak niet relevant of zelfs schadelijk. Ik vind het niet acceptabel dat een eerbiedwaardige club waar ik lid van ben een foute missie heeft (van mij hoeft een missie helemaal niet, maar als-ie er is moettie goed zijn.) ALV's leverden nog niets op. Hoe verder?

  • Aanpak?
  • Hoe moet de alternatieve, wel juiste missie dan luiden?

In de Kroeg - zie de links in het WP-artikel - is er over gesproken zonder duidelijke uitkomst hoe de wel juiste formulering moet zijn. Welbedankt Ad!

@Hansmuller: Je hebt ooit een motie ingebracht op de ALV van WMNL, of zelfs twee keer. Die werd met een grote meerderheid afgewezen. Wisdom of the crowd. Eerlijk gezegd ben ik meer een inclusionist dan een deletionist, maar ik heb geen tijd en energie voor een inclusionism versus deletionism debat. Over de toekomstige richting van Wikimedia is er een doorlopende dialoog over Wikimedia 2030. Een samenvatting van de gesprekken van het laatste jaar staat op m:Strategy/Wikimedia movement/2018-20/Reports/Summary of Movement Conversations 2020. Misschien kun je daar bij aanhaken. Dag Ad Huikeshoven, ik merk dat de reply-functie momenteel ingeschakeld is op overlegpagina's (overigens zou dit van mij ook wel mogen op een pagina als de Kroeg). December vorig jaar is er over gesproken om deze functie op nl.wp te testen. Dat vond men ok. Vanuit SG kwam het bericht dat dat nog een tijdje ging duren. En nu is het er al. Ik heb daar ook geen aankondiging van gehad, of ik heb die gemist. Ad Huikeshoven (overleg) 18 feb 2020 14:38 (CET)Reageren

Sorry about that. The next step is to get it into Speciaal:Voorkeuren#mw-prefsection-betafeatures. That will probably happen next week (earliest: Tuesday, 25 February). Please feel free to announce it locally when it appears in Beta Features.
The overall plan for the next couple of months is:
  • Test with ?dtenable=1 now (current status: broken).
  • Test with Beta Features, only for individuals who chose to turn it on.
  • If everyone likes it, then turn it on for wider use (you can still turn it off).
